Cams have little to do with what motor you have. Much more factors play a role in determining cam choice, turbo selection, use of car, desired power etc.

Cams suit application, mods on engine, head, car, etc.

To get an idea of what they look at when selecting cams for engine, look at this -

With the more aggressive aftermarket cams, they are increasing mid to topend. When fitting a bigger turbo, shorter runner intake manifold, longer runner exhaust manifold it increases mid to topend (cams match that). Usually more aggressive cams are higher duration, lift and result is more bottomend you lose (creates a bow in power graph at lower rpm), but gain more mid to topend (good for racetrack where engine is above 4000rpm most of the time).

Also cams are good for engine producing more hp at same boost level to get some reliability and help to produce more exhaust gas at lower rpm to spool a bigger turbo slightly quicker. Those are the main reasons behind why most fit cams.

Tomei Poncams are designed for stock engine, stock head (stock valves, stock ports, etc), small Tomei turbo upgrade.

thank you for the answers !

my engine is basically stock, the car is mostly for track an drift and sometime road.
I would like to have cams to suit the hks gt-rs turbo.
I already have adjustable cam gears .
I don't want the big whp numbers, I want a responsive car and a reliable setup.

I was wondering if more aggresive cams than poncam was worthless ?

instead of 256 In / 256 Ex for the poncam I could go with procam of 260 or 270 deg ?
