  • Finally i have got my license back!

well boys , it's happening, March 13th to be exact, it's been far too long 1 year and 3 months since I've driven my baby or anything at all , with that being said I've got a few questions on here i need to ask , should be pretty basic but i'm not 100% sure on them

1st question is what would i use for the needle on my tach to get it to stick again? we did some swapping to get my GTR cluster working with my old one and while the tach does work it sorta jumps like its binding against the gauge face so i think maybe like a 2 part epoxy or something? but i wouldn't mind being able to get it off if i ever had to as well lol

2nd question is that i'm having some issues with my steering now i don't know if it's the rack or the power steering pump, can anyone suggest how i can diagnose this type of issue, it feels like almost like armstrong steering and like a metal on metal grind sound when you turn the wheel all the way right ! thanks guys i'm pumped to be getting back into the game, i've missed it

    ciao

    You must be excited!

q2) Kinda sounds like low power steering fluid

Or it has air in the system. Flushed it out and replace the fluids

well im not so sure its the ps fluid or system, because last summer i actually did that i flushed the system and put new stuff in, so i think its actually a problem with either the rack itself or could be the pump but im wondering how i can check these things

        thanks

I suspect the dash, steering problem are related.

When speedo needle jumped on my car (including clicking sound), it was speedo cable related that took out bearing in head behind dash (mechanical on R32, not electric like found on R33).

This is how we removed bubbles from powersteering system on my car. Remove powersteering resouvoir cap, turn engine on, turn steering wheel left to right and right to left many times, turn engine off, refit powersteering resouvoir cap. Might not be the best way, buts that's how we did it.

Also check front upper arm bushes (could be worn). Jack car up at front, turn steering wheel to one side and wiggle upper arm with hand (should be solid, not move around).

If steering is heavy, that's controlled by HICAS ECU. There's a solenoid on front steering rack that is controlled by HICAS ECU which varies powersteering weight. When HICAS ECU fails the steering can become heavy (sometimes is due to faulty sensor which makes HICAS on dash light up. It could be steering angle sensor behind steering wheel or speedo cable). In some cases alternator can be on the way out (low power).

Yes sounds like your car is limp mode from probably from the speedio, best of luck.
Traction is optional, so are zipties

nobody knows what they use to apply the guage faces? or the needle to the gauge face, i know it sorta clicks in but i think it had some sort of glue on there or something just wondering what that could be!

probably will bring car out within a month or so but I wanna fix all the little things first

              thanks!!!
