  • Dash Clock Died?

So i was Driving to School this morning, listening to music, and suddenly my CD/MP3 Deck Goes Dead, then i notice the Clock in the Dash is dead, the one by the Speedo. I havent had a chance to look at the fuses yet, will do after school anyone know which fuse would deal with this?
or if they think its not a fuse let me know.

    thanks in advance.

for sure the clock/radio fuse.. they are very commonly together on the same circuit. just visually inspect the fuse box, more then likely it will be quite clear which one is blown. Replace and your good to go.

If if blows again, and you have an aftermarket radio in it, check the wireing on the deck as you probably have a short. I doubt it though... my buddies gtst clock/radio fuse went, he replaced, and that was that.

the clock/radio fuse is located on the underdash fusebox. It is just above your right leg when sitting in the drivers seat. There's a little door that pops off, you can't miss it.

BTW: there might even be spare fuses in it along the bottom where the fuse tweezers should be, if so you could fix before you even leave school!

i believe the will be 25 (yellow), 15 (blue), and tons of 10 (red) amp....i think the clock/radio fuse is one of the many reds.

don't know if that would be a good idea, as the amperage rating is there to protect the circuit from overloading, in cases such as shorts. Doing that might allow too much of a surge past, that the protected device can't handle, therefore ruining it. (ie, clock or radio)

I would stick with the rating from factory to avoid any damage to electronics.

dude there is a reason the rdio amps are say 10... its because thats all the wriing can handle... if you put a bigger fuse in there and if you do have a short then you risk heating the wire up to the point were it will melt and light on fire... so stick to the recommended fuse... if it does pop again get your wiring... but yeah... believe me never put in a bigger fise... i lit my rx7 on fire that way once... lol learn my lesson fast...

K so i have now checked all my fuses, they are fine,
as well as i have removed all my stereo and wiring, however Clock still no show?

as of now its a mystery, im going to redo my CD player wiring this afternoon and see if i can figure anything out. Aside from that.. I guess i will have to live with no dash clock..

how did you check your fuses?

visually doesn't always cut it... hopefully you have a multi-metre so u can check them properly.

have the car running, and check voltage on EACH SIDE of every fuse. You should be getting between 13.8-14.4v on both sides of the fuses when the car is running. When you find the fuse with power only on one side that should be it. Replace and enjoy tunes again.

                        ....hopefully

You can also remove the fuse and meter for continuity.... Sometimes blade fuses look fine but are still toast. This way or the way Subaueru listed will work.
