Your probably going to be hearing the dump even during light to light normal driving.
If you really want to run open pipe at times them make two dump pipes that you can switch out on vband clamps.
You can get a vband cap to put at the exhaust pipe side to stop the exhaust coming out from there and run the dump off the WG cause its so easy to get to on your setup.

why would you be hitting full boost light and normal driving?

i have a screamer pipe and its ******* loud and very attention grabbing. do it love it? yes
if you don't like it then spend another sub $100 gettin it re routed in.
its one of thoes things where you have to decide yourself

Yea, if you are hearing the wastegate crack at only 5psi then your boost controller is a POS. You shouldn't hear anything untill you get to within 2-3 ps of your target boost. Mine doesn't make a peep untill 12 psi, even then its not very loud...not untill you leave your foot buried in it and the gate really needs to vent.

It was kinda cool at first but got old quick.

If got a 15psi spring in the wastegte aswell, so it shouldnt open very much even if i had a pos boost controller, but mines decent, so i think i should be good. Im going screamer all the way, thought about doing a "y" set up on the wastegate dump, one side into the exhaust and one side atmospheric with a cap on it, but it'll just complicate things.. Now all i need is about a foot section of my exhaust fabbed, Know any exhaust guys in calgary??

A crap boost controller will allow boost pressure to start pushing against the spring too early and crack that gate slowing spool time and making noise much earlier. Sometimes that is what you want to take the sledgehammer-ness out of the boost curve but, that will make the screamer sound off at low boost pressure.

that's why most good boost controllers have the option to run 2 vac line to the wastegate, 1 line to help the wg stay closed, and the other to open it as usual.
