  • limited diff additive need help

    Hi,

I have a limited slip diff 2 way tomei.
the differential is making a LOT of noise when turning.
I was wondering if there is something I can do to limit the noise ?

    should I add some additive : http://www.frsport.com/Torco-Limited...e_p_18091.html

if you have some advice I'll be happy to know about it

    thank you

What kind of noise, the pre-load might be overkill and your tires are skipping a little. Additives won't help that.

the pre-load should be alright, it has been adjusted by eastern transmission (montreal's best) and they say the diff is all fine.

however I talked to someone about it and he told me that additive can make a difference.

I was wondering should I put some additive and if yes, which one

Like I said, if your tires are skipping, the pre-load is too much. The additive will only limit chatter IF the diff is actually doing its job and letting the tires turn at different rates. I personally don't use any additive in a clutch style LSD because they will prematurely wear out the clutches (yes, wear them out quicker). The additive allows the clutches to break free more easily and slide more in the pack. I have never had an issue with chatter because I never have the pre-load more than 400lbs, there is no need on a street car. If you don't use additive and a light pre-load the clutches will do the same job as a pre-load of 600-700lbs.

This is the same reason why I don't use Dextron III in anything that calls for it, I use Type F. No additives means the clutches grab better with less force.

And to answer your other question, anyone's additive will do, they are all the same.

thank you for the explanation, the car is mostly for track use, so I think I'll keep it that way.
