  • Questions about building r33 rb25det head

Hey guys I got my motor apart in pieces right now and I was thinking of doing a port and polish on the head just curious what you all recommend doing to build the head so I can start ordering parts and send it off to the machine shop. Everyone's opionions count so please give me your knowledge thanks

      400 whp or 400 crank?
either way leave the head stock and grab a set of tomei pon cams or pro cams and save your money.

Im in the process of doing the whole head. solid lifter 260 cams 9.15 lift . 1mm over valves . bronze valve guide. dual springs and retainer. total cost for parts is around 3 g. thats not including the machine work . right now im at 387whp with out the head work on a dynamatic dyno . if i could do it again i would skip the solid lifters and just put 256 poncams in .

With porting you usually port match the exhaust ports to exhaust manifold (Nismo do this with N1 engines, etc), smooth out ports for smooth flow of air, fuel (from what I can remember intake side needs to be a bit rough, not glass smooth), exhaust gas and on high hp engines they adjust squish area in dome part of head on each cylinder that can cause knock problems if not corrected. Basically once adjusted the squish area it raises the limit before knock happens.
