  • Need help with very sporadic tick (VIDEO inside)

Alright so i've had the motor running a couple times and ive never heard anything like this. Which could be because its so loud, but who knows. So on sunday i put everything back together, Started her up and it ran pretty decent for having vacuum leaks. In one instance it started to bog so i tugged the throttle a bit and the rpms shot way up. After it came back to idling it started a really weird tick and its been doing it ever since.

Heres a video i took today, I drained the oil and put in some cheapy 10w-30 to flush it. So i know oil levels are good.

    Thanks in advance!

Btw i recently had the tranny, clutch, flywheel, and intake manifold off. As well as the exhaust manifold and turbo to clock it.

Hmm where exactly would it arc? Its a really loud tick, but i havent had anything internal apart so i dont know what it would be. I did notice the last time i started it the turbo made a sight scratching noise when i shut the motor off.

Turbo should be pre oiled with oil before startup. Remove CAS plug, cranking engine until oil reaches turbo, connect CAS plug, start engine. Lack of oil is one of the quickest ways to damage a new turbo.

Can't see vid, so guessing it could be lifter sticking, leak in camcover gasket (not tight enough), FPR ticking, just to name few area's to look at. Use a mechanics stethoscope and listen for where the ticking sound is coming from.

Worse case it could be compressor or exhaust wheel touching compressor or exhaust housing.

Also just to add, the Vvt plug is currently not plugged in. The harness was missing the plug from the importers.

I see a X in vid link. I'm guessing that I don't have the plugin or something wrong with link.

Could be missing the pluggin. i let it run for like a minute today and the noise actually went away. Waited an hour and started it again and it still wouldn't do it. Not sure whats goin on here... but on the plus side while looking for stuff i found out my turbo is kinda blown. Its hitting the wall on the exhaust side. Theres a gt2540 down the tube.
