  • Rb25 gearbox swap on Rr20 engine

Hi, I'm looking to swap gearbox (manual) and wonder what are the modif I need to do on my r32 gts-t.
I also plan to change the driveshaft for a single piece (http://www.driveshaftshop.com/nissan...num-driveshaft)

the gearbox I'm looking for is the R34 gtt one (strongest one I believe).

so what should I do in order to fit the r34 gtt gearbox and what driveshaft should I buy ?

    thank you !

RB25DET gearbox is bigger, so less air around gearbox for cooling in a R32 gearbox tunnel. Would suggest you run a gearbox oil cooler + pump, temp activated or dash switch, oiltemp gauge for oil longevity if driving car on racetrack or long motorway trips.

With R34GTT gearbox in a R32 it requires a custom rear gearbox crossmember (what I noticed someone that has done this conversion on R32 has done, as doesn't seem to be a stock crossmember that fits). With main propshaft, usually the front half is different, so could use the R34 yoke on R32 propshaft (like what you do with R33 gearbox, R33 yoke, R32 propshaft). Driveshaft specialist is the best person to ask (shown him the gearbox length, propshaft length, yoke length, etc).

Also I think there's the pull or push problem with clutch setup (clutch setup can be modified to suit either push or pull clutches). R32 is different to R33, R34.

thank you for the information, seems that serie 1 and 2 of the rb25 was push (r33) like the r32.
so maybe it will be better to get the serie 1 or 2 of an r33 instead.

the main probleme is to know what should I do if I want a single piece driveshaft..
I was thinking of changing the 2 pieces driveshaft to a single piece driveshaft at the same time...

has anyone done that swap ?

          should I get a
          r33 serie1,2
          or
          r33 serie3 r34 gtt ?
which gearbox is the best for drifting and track abuse ?

You're welcome. It would require a custom driveshaft to be made by a driveshaft specialist. He would need to measure car (stock propshaft length, gearbox length differences, etc) to workout the length for the single piece propshaft, etc. The off the shelf propshaft's are copies of stock driveshaft length, etc (fairly easy to copy).

R33 gearbox bolts in on a auto R32 chassis with stock S13 / 240sx??? crossmember (there's A, B, C, etc stamped on the stock cross members, can't remember which one it was), stock gearbox mount (there's photo's on here somewhere showing the differences between manual, auto R32 chassis and the crossmember problem with R33 RB25DET gearbox and the yoke mod too). It requires a custom gearbox mount with manual chassis.

Also there's the speedo cable (custom speedo cable), as R33 is electric to back of dash and R32 is mechanical.
