That's the bar (shaft) linking the two CVs together.

I thought it was more of a problem with the whole thing. If the shafts are crap just get some GTR halfshafts and call it a day. Mine are stock.

Have broken stock GTS driveshaft joints (joint on wheel side of both halfshaft's and main propshaft joint on diffhead side) with close to stock hp. Stock driveshaft's on Nissan's (S15, R32 GTS-T, etc) don't like hard launches or drifting with wide tyres.

Driveshaft shop / specialist can upgrade the stock GTS driveshaft joints to stock 300ZX joints (stronger) that are said to be rebuildable.

Other option is HKS GTR driveshaft's (drag spec, probably hard to get hold of), R32 GTR rear differential. R32 GTS-4 differential (same diameter half shaft's as found on R32 GTR) is another option, as has the same diffhead ratio as stock GTS-T (4.363:1).

It confuse me a bit ! Is there any gtr halsfhat in 5x1 ? Because I dont want to swap my kaaz for a stock gtr diff. I really love the kaaz :S
Do I have to contact driveshaft shop for this upgrade ? Cause I cant find it on their website !

I didn't take notice of the bolt pattern on GTR or GTS-4 diffhead ears / output shaft's, halfshaft's when looking at them.

I know the bolt pattern on diffhead ears / output shaft's, halfshaft's does change between non turbo, turbo models (LSD, non LSD diffheads, which I think is R200 for non LSD and R200V for LSD. V = Viscous diffhead internals, H = Helical diffhead internals) which requires halfshaft's to suit.

I think the R200, R200V, etc for diffhead might tell you if halfshaft's are compatible. Nismo list's what the diffheads are (R180, R200, R200V, etc) for each model -

But with some aftermarket LSD's they can have other model diffhead output shaft's (shipped with LSD), so it's hard to say what would work, unless you know which diffhead those output shaft's are from and what works with them (GTR halfshaft's might work if your stock shaft's are working with current LSD). The only way to confirm is to try it.

I was told by another driveshaft specialist that they use 300ZX joints when upgrading GTS driveshaft's. He mentioned something about them being rebuildable (from memory) vs stock joints that aren't (have to replace the whole shaft).

They probably mean the GTR halfshaft's.

It's around 300-350whp for GTS halfshaft's (from what I can remember of what I was told by a driveshaft specialist). S15 (240sx) runs similar diameter (main shaft diameter) halfshaft's.

Also what driveshaft's can handle depends on how you drive car. Excessive drivetrain shock (one example is not locking drivetrain up against handbrake before launching at dragstrip) can damage diffhead, driveshaft's quickly. Also running slicks on dragstrip or racetrack, launching (happened to Group-A racecars when launching at the start of a race, hence why they have upgraded driveshaft's, etc). If car wheelspins a bit it reduces the drivetrain shock.

Yeah I know that the axle bar 'Is' the upgrade , but it doesnt upgrade the joint , it only upgrade the main axle and thats not where the stock one snap ! Thanks skym for the info !
Then , i would need 2 stub shaft in 3x2 for a r200v to fit 2 gtr axle if I dont want to swap my diff for a stock gtr.

                          You're welcome.

Halfshaft breaks in 2x places, joint on wheel side or piece of halfshaft that slides into hub (with enough torque from a turbocharged Nissan V8 with drag slicks).
