  • Top Mount Twin Turbo Manifolds

    Hello,

I have been informed that you guys have a track car that is running with twin top mount manifolds. If this is correct, what did you guys do to achieve this? Are they a pre-fabed kit or custom?

    Thanks,
    Kirk

    It's an HKS GT2835R kit.

If you want top mounted 2860R's you'll have to custom fab it. I feel it would be a waste to not run a T3 exhaust housing and an external gate if you're going top mount.

The 2835's are internal wastegated also though, so the only difference is the t25 to t3 housing right? Either way, both of them I would have to weld shut the wastegate and externaly gate it.

The turbos are not internally gated.

Doesn't look like internally gated to me.

I looked around at pictures online and they were. Maybe not the exact item in the pics.

          Thanks,

The 2835's are available in both internal gate style and external gate style. All HKS turbos GT30xx and smaller use the T25 footprint. So the exhaust manifolds for the RB26 top mounted twin kits also have the T25 footprint.

With all the proven turbo kits available, I would stay away from custom fabricated, non-engineered, untested, and undeveloped turbo systems. It's a money pit and a whole lot of trouble. You'll have leaks, cracks, rattles, etc. unless your fabricator is experienced with the GT-R. If you had an EVO then maybe, but the GT-R is a biitch to work on. Pay the big money up front and save yourself TONS of hassle.

Agreed, if I could only find one for sale. I am willing to sell my GT2860R-5's to get the HKS kit when I find one. There is a used kit on eBay, but I don't trust a used one.

The problem is that HKS no longer sells a complete kit. Everything is now modular. You purchase a setup kit for twin top mounts which includes manifolds, wastegates, hardware. Then you purchase the two 2835's. Then you purchase the downpipes for the BNR32 top mount kit. Finally, you can purchase the plumbing kit which has all the oil lines, water lines, etc. or you can fabricate your own if you choose. Most of the shops in Japan end up adding their own touches to the kits so HKS decided to split everything up and make it all modular so to speak.

Let me know if you're interested in a new system. With the US $ as weak as it is, it might not be too bad.

I am interested in a full system. I would like...

                  Air intake piping into turbos.
                  Headers/manifolds (top mount).
                  Down pipes.
                  front pipe.

As far as front pipes go, why is it that all the ones that are being sold seem to have the 2 pipe combined areas considerably smaller than the 1 pipe area?

I just bought 2 gt2860r-5's, I am willing to sell them to get a properly rounded kit, or get t3 - t25 adapters to fit these turbos in case I want to upgrade later on.

Please let me know what you can offer,
                  Kirk Bryan

                    Kirk,

I have the setup on my GTR as well but I built them myself.

I used the GT2860RS disco potato turbos from garrett. didi all custom piping and such.

I got a price for manifolds once before i started and it was $3600 for HKS manifolds then $3800 to make them top mount it was a company in the U.K. who quoted was pricey as that was just for the manifolds!

i can post pics if wanted.

                    let me know.

That is a ridiculous price for manifolds.

I won't trouble you for pictures as that's really not going to help me too much unless you are building kits and selling them. Thank you though. I'll contact you for pics if I get to the point where I will have to build it myself.

Actually it appears as though HKS has started offering the complete systems again. Like all HKS kits, they are pricey though.

                        HKS FULL TURBINE KITS

The best I could offer you for the entire kit for is approximately US$6600. Perhaps you can get better pricing from the suppliers on this forum based in Japan. I imagine after shipping, duties, and insurance it would be pretty close though.
