  • Inner Rear Tire Wear?

OK so I just got my car up on a hoist for the first time in a while and found that the right rear tire had a tonn of wear on the inside of the tire. All three other tires were perfect. Everything feels really solid back there. I cant move it by hand at all. I have noticed that when I go over speed bumps I can hear one of the rear coilovers make a leaky hissy sound. Pretty sure it's on the same wheel. Also you can see the tire is visibly angled.

Do bad coilovers = inner tire wear?

if one shock is dead more load will be hitting that corner every bump. with the more load = more camber as it is compressed = more tire wear on inside.

figure out if the coilover is good, then get an alignment.
the rear diff could also be tired

I'm hoping it's the suspention, it's pretty old stuff. Any good way to test it out without taking it off the car? I figure if it was the diff it would be the whole tire would it not?

I was thinking Tein Flex? Thoughts?

the easiest way to test it. is to push down on each corner of the car with a lot of force. if that one corner bounces or flex's more than the other it could be blown.

Not really sure, everything is stock under there except the Tein coil overs. Car is lowered quote a bit but I only have the problem on the one wheel.

I kinda thought the spring would have to be dead to cause problems. would a blown shock cause it?

Although camber will wear your tires from the inside out, toe is your worst enemy. If something is bent and you're running toe-out on that tire it'll wear a lot faster than just camber. I have rubber on my car that has over 13 000 km on it (couple track days on them too) with a lowered car, no visible camber wear on them at all...

Yea but the camber is visable by looking at it. Checked everything under the car and it all appears to be good. Might make an appointment for a wheel alignment and see if they can tell me for sure what the problem is before I drop 2k on suspention...

Hey Folks, resurrecting an old thread.
I am experiencing the same issue, however I have inner tire wear on all four, and much much more on the rears there is a lot of wear.... and nothing seems bent.
I have HKS DRAG on all four corners.
I am going to be replacing these tires so I really want to solve this before I get them.
                          Any advice?
