  • ==Buyers Warning - Beware of MWRACING==

Everyone and anyone here on GTRC should beware of:

    User name: MWRACING

    Real name: Martin W.

Martin is also a GTRC sponsor under the name VIP Imports.

    Here's the reason why:

    The Purchase:
I agreed to let Martin find me a G-Sensor unit for my GT-R a few months ago. We spoke through MSN and he found me a good priced G-Sensor unit through yahoo auctions Japan.

Martin didn't obtain the item himself, he dealt through Adam at Feast Auto Export. All of which wasn't a problem.

The G-Sensor unit was in fine working condition and had pictures on yahoo auctions Japan of the indicator strip being clearly white.

I payed for the item, costing $315.00CND, and I received the item in good time.

    The First Problem:
The big first problem was with the G-Sensor unit itself. The indicator strip had turned red.

I'm unsure as to when it turned red but I'm guessing that it was during the trip across the Pacific to my front door.

The item was sent directly to me and didn't pass through Martin.

The items packaging wasn't poor by any standards, but I'm not sure exactly how little force is needed to cause that indicator strip to turn red.

Regardless the item wasn't what I paid for.

    The Second Problem:
I got on the computer with Martin and told him that the G-Sensor was damaged.

Martin told me that becuz he had dealt through Adam that I would have to speak to him.

I sent Adam a message through GTRC and Adam tells me that he will instruct Martin with details for us to make a claim with Japan Post and that I will have to deal with Martin on this matter.

    I say, "No problem."

A few days pass and Martin tells me that I need to take pictures of the G-Sensor unit and send them to him so that he can make the claim.

I say, Ok," and get him the pictures within the hour.

    The Big problem:
Here's my big complaint. Martin, completely vanishes after this. A week passes and I receive no update. I make attempts to speak to him through the computer but no reply.

Another week passes and still nothing, no email no call, no nothing and he is still not responding to my attempts to speak to him through the computer.

I finally get upset and tell Adam what is going on.

Adam tells me to mail him the pictures and that he will make the claim.

About another few weeks pass and Adam gets everything going and finished and I get a lump sum of some of my money back from the item.

Martin doesn't say a word. I make efforts every few days to speak to him through MSN and he never responds.

He basically left me out to dry on this and if it weren't for Adam I probably wouldn't be getting anything back.

The long and short of it is this: DON'T DEAL WITH MARTIN OR VIP IMPORTS.

I really hope Martin responds to this becuz this is total B.S. and you do not treat your customers like this.

If I had it my way, Martin would be paying me the difference I'm out on this unit simply for his disappearing act with regards to this manner.

    I'll say it again:

DO NOT DEAL WITH MARTIN, MWRACING, OR VIP IMPORTS.

See, I don't quite think he was trying to pull one over you.

Martin's biggest problem is he takes on waaaaay too many things at once.

I do admit that he should of got back to you right away on the subject. But in terms of intentionally screwing anyone over, I can honestly say that it's not something he tries to do.

As I said, his major issue is he has way too much taken on his plate.

As far as trust issues go, I trust him completely. Timing on the other hand isn't always 100%... stuff gets done but not as fast as any of us would like.

Iether way you have to take care of your people if you dont have time then you have to get someone to help you. The same thing happened to japaneseimports.ca got busy, cuoldnt keep up ran out of time, started missing some people and then finially lost all buisness and failed. I.M.H.O being busy is not an excuse for ignoring customers, and if it was anyone else they would want quick service aswell.

        Martin is a good guy...

timing is hear to work out these days..

but i do agree that you should get back to your clients..

How hard is it for a couple emails..

We all have Blackberrys/Laptops/PDA's so an email takes 5 seconds..

thats all i have to say..

Like trace said. Martin works full time aside from MWRacing and has a lot on his plate, he is overly busy at any given point. To say thats a valid excuse isn't right, but then again his prices are usually a lot better than the bigger companies. If you want something done perfectly and fast, your gonna pay more because these places are businesses dedicated to cars, not just a side business. If you want something done cheaper, you'll get it done in the same manner as the big guys, just not in as quick of time as you ideally want it.

Working hard when it is convenient for you and then not working hard when it becomes inconvenient are unacceptable traits to have when dealing with paying customers.

It doesn't matter that his prices were good or that he was friendly at first or that he went out of his way, etc, etc.

What matters is that Martin disappeared when the going got tough.

...and that's a sh1tty way to do business, plain and simple, no matter what.

PS- ... this wasn't a "time" related issue, Martin wouldn't have "gotten around to me eventually". Martin vanished, completely, for over a month and has still yet to say anything to me to this day despite my continuing emails.

...no excuses, that's a sh1tty way to do business, and that warrants a warning to others.

He may know some of you better than others and extent himself more for his friends, but a successful business is not measured by how it treat its friends...it's by how it treat its average customers.

Don't run a business if you can't get back to your clients. that or expect to be flamed for it.. I've been hearing alot of stories like this

MMM I agree with the comments about getting back to you, however...

I've met martin, dealt with him a few times, and talk with him frequently.. He's a pretty honest guy. I think there was just a mistake somewhere along the communication line...

This being said, I would do business again with martin.

i think the only mistake in communication was that the communication had stopped...

if he had said hey man im really sorry about all this, im super busy and need a lil time, or somethin i think caithness wouldnt be as upset, stuff happens and you deal with it...

but not dealing with it is what has caused this issue... and i think the warning is a fair warning...

if i buy something from someone and they say its gonna take 2 weeks but it takes 4 and i am asking where my item is at week 3 and i get no response, you bet im gonna think something is up...

also, this particular issue was a couple months in the making... so its not like it just happend out of the blue...

so to all of you sellers out there, communication is important, no matter if you have good news or bad news, any news is better than no news even if we the buyer arent gonna like it we would rahter know than not know

                    No surprise.

Very few folks in the Canadian Import Scene are worth talking too.

                    Daryl is A-1
                    Adam as always.

So what if a brand new one is a little more...spend the extra cash....
i dont think this is about the quality of the item. this is about the guy not responding and just dissapearing which is under no circumstances right especially when your dealing with paying customers. got too much work? dont sell the item if you cant handle contacting the person or expecting the worst.

He's not complaining about the damage product, he's complaining about the service he received after and how he didn't back to him or help him in anyway...so calm your ass down.

Anyways, I haven't done business with him so I wouldn't know.

ya ive never done business with him but i did consider it a couple of times. but i want a place that will get back to me right away. darryl and adam have always emailed me back as soon as they possibly can. even though every time i had to back out because of financial issues. they probly got mad that i couldnt end up giving them any money but you know what? to this day, if i email either one of them, i get a email back as soon as they have a chance to. and that is how a business should be run. it sucks to hear that story but at least adam was able to help you out a bit.

even though its only been a day for this thread I cant believe he hasnt already heard about this thread from someone "c-unit" or someone else to respond. I did business with the guy once for a BOV that was suppose to be an HKS unit. It ended up not being HKS but some other ebay brand. Needed a little fixing but I didnt pay that much anyway and he was a very nice guy. He even asked if I wanted to wait around for a couple minutes till his pizza arrived and I could have a slice. Tres cool
