STi's are boring and sound like sh1t. And the new models also look like sh1t.

i voted NO and for a couple good legit reasons
i love STi's dont get me wrong... but compared to a GTR they are lacking in a few aspects...
1) all STi's are 4dr's EWWWWW
2) the STi is a pig, they are heavy, ugly and only the newest allow the seats to fold down...
3) parts are expensive, insurance is expensive, hell STI's are expensive in general...
4) an STi never ate tokyo
5) just because ken block is doing it doesnt mean you should too
6) boxer engines sound annoying...
7) they dont have as much potential as a GTR does...
8) they are not sexy
if i forgot anything im sure someone will add to it...
the only thing you would have going for you is it isnt an imported vehicle or RHD which would get alot less attention from other drivers, but mostly the law will not needlessly pull you over for papers
as for people mentioning the EVO... sorry i have to say a BIG HELL NO... plastic pedals that snap under hard brakeing and acceleration make for a VERY bad day and on a new car that is unacceptableHow many kids with A.D.D. does it take to screw in a light bulb?

you always want what you don't have....that's just life...after you've had something for a while you sometimes just get bored of it.... been there done that....then you wish you would have kept what you had....in a perfect world, we could keep all our cars and keep buying them....but that's not the way it usually works...I say go with your heart...you only live once and at least you could say you've owned one....best of luck

What, you mean like having an interior that's actually enjoyable to be in, none of the hassles of owning a 20 year old JDM car, and possibly some reliability?Originally posted by Shadao View Posti voted NO and for a couple good legit reasons

Personal preference. I sometimes like to have more than one person in my car on weekends, and that makes 4 doors a big +Originally posted by Shadao View Post1) all STi's are 4dr's EWWWWW
STI: 3296 poundsOriginally posted by Shadao View Post2) the STi is a pig, they are heavy, ugly and only the newest allow the seats to fold down...
GTR: 3152 pounds
So 100 pounds is the difference between being a pig and not being a pig? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you can't use that as a factor on how good a car is. It's not Kia Rio ugly, that's for sure. And fold down seats? What are you, a 45 year old soccer mom who needs room for antiquing?
Parts aren't any more expensive than GTR's. Only difference is they don't need a rebuild every week and a half. And insurance isn't any different for me, basic PLPD would be the same, and full collision would be similar when looking at the value of the vehicles.Originally posted by Shadao View Post3) parts are expensive, insurance is expensive, hell STI's are expensive in general...
Those aren't even valid arguments for anything....Originally posted by Shadao View Post4) an STi never ate tokyo

Again, personal preference. I think they sound sexy.Originally posted by Shadao View Post6) boxer engines sound annoying...
Oh, you mean like how you need a 20 thousand dollar hollinger sequential box if you want to make more than about 650-700 WHP on a GTR? Who gives a **** about maybe being able to squeeze a bit more power out of a car, when you're going to spend a small fortune getting there anyways. If we based the worth of a care solely on potential, we'd all be driving C5 Corvettes, Fox Body mustangs, or MKIV Supras.Originally posted by Shadao View Post7) they dont have as much potential as a GTR does...
Didn't you already say this? Again, personal preference. I think the 06/07 cars look better than R32's.Originally posted by Shadao View Post8) they are not sexy
Wow, one gas pedal snaps on an Evo 10, that gets posted all over the internet, and suddenly Evo 10's have a pandemic of breaking gas pedals. Better keep a spare on youOriginally posted by Shadao View Postif i forgot anything im sure someone will add to it...

So basically you listed a whole bunch of personal preferences and meaningless statements as to why the BNR is a better choice.
How about this list of why an STi could be better?
1) Much newer car with lower KM's. Less rattles, squeaks, and shakes. No fear of rust, or crushed frame rails from jacking. No hacked up japanese mods or poorly installed and poorly removed alarms to worry about. More pleasant interior and better seats. Overall quality of the car is going to be better.
2) Having a car that was originally sold in Canada makes it easier to find small odds and ends when they break and go wrong. Sure, anybody and their sister can order some new spoiler gaskets or some trim pieces from Daryl, but they take a week or more to get here and are expensive. If something breaks on an STi, I'd drive 10 minutes to one of the 3 dealerships near by, pickup the part, and be done.
3) LHD is less of a pain in the ass to drive every day. You can't even argue about this one, sometimes RHD is an annoyance when it comes to left turns, merging, passing on the highway, etc.
4) Rebuilding an EJ25 is cheaper than an RB26. A good oil pump for a Subaru is about 450 bucks vs. 1500+ dollars for an RB26. They don't crack blocks (ask me how many I've been through), and they don't annihilate transmissions as quickly.
5) Don't have to go through the huge hassle of OOP inspecting the car and trying to get it compliant, only to have your inspection revoked by the province and then have fun trying to find a shop anymore than actually wants to touch your car.
There are some reasons to choose a BNR over an STI, but a lot of them come down to personal preference, and aren't real reason to say "Yes, GTR is better!"
It's not like looking at a Civic. You can't argue that FWD is better than RWD or AWD for pretty well anything but saving weight and reducing drivetrain complexity. You can definitely say that for motorsports, RWD/AWD is better. There isn't any standout example like that between the STI and the GTR that makes me say "Yep, the GTR has a clear advantage and is a better choice"1990 Skyline GT-R - Jet Silver Metallic

Maybe if you were going to drive it in the winter too.. But I've driven a WRX (ok, so it's not an STi) and to me the feel of the car doesn't even compare to my GTR. It depends what you are looking for - one car that is a good compromise between performance and practicality or a car that is a good balance between really really cool and fast as heck.

Not even a concept. It's a fan-made render. Was circulating on all the big auto news sites about a week ago. I think it looks disproportionate and in bad taste. Somewhat cartoonish as well.Originally posted by M13 View PostUnless he is buying this, then no.

Too bad it's just a concept and Subaru would never make this.
I agree with you guys on the STI's exhaust note. All the modded Subaru's sound like John Deere tractors with a straight pipe.03 Infiniti G35 Coupe 5AT "Valerie"

Tokes does your GTR have the AWD hooked up? It must not be. Attessa>40/60 understeer fun.
Zulu should not sell this car. I'm happy he is though, I'll be going for a ride in it tommorow night in Edmonton. It will be interesting to see how this car feels compared to Keleogs -5 build.
Now there will be two relaible 5xx WHP NUR-Spec builds in Emonton enjoying the summmer driving season.

Yep, my attesa is working. Have you ever driven a nicely setup STI? A bigger rear sway bar and a good allignment makes them much more neutral in their handling.Originally posted by jp4130 View PostTokes does your GTR have the AWD hooked up? It must not be. Attessa>40/60 understeer fun.

There are a lot of quick STi's, some factory understeer can be dealt with. And the R32's AWD isn't perfect either.
And FWIW, never been a fan of NUR engines. It's a new stock engine with some N1 parts, and still has those weak cast pistons and stock rod bolts, unless you replace them, at which point you've negated most of the advantage of a NUR. If I had piles of money to throw away I would've bought a NUR, but only for the virgin block, crank, and head that I know are good.1990 Skyline GT-R - Jet Silver Metallic

Yep!
Total cost of parts for my build right now is around 2400 bucks. The only thing a NUR engine has over me is an N1 block, which I don't see the value of to make 500 WHP anyways. Definitely not a lot of value in a 9000 dollar engine, if you ask me.
If I went to a set of Pauter rods and a Tomei pump I'd be at about 4400 bucks plus machining, so under 6000 dollars for a basically bulletproof engine vs. 9 grand1990 Skyline GT-R - Jet Silver Metallic
