The cost of a good condition RB26 engine, etc is expensive compared to your current RB20DET + gearbox, drivetrain to suppourt that hp, RB26 engine.

The potential is shown in the red RB26 powered R32 GTS-T vs Rx7's, etc videoclip I posted above.

Also like the red RB26 powered R32GTS-T, shifting to small single turbo gets rid of the twin turbo plumbing nightmare and cheaper to replace turbo's.

I have the specs of that RB26 powered R32GTS-T in a magazine somewhere. It has around 460hp or so with small single turbo for earlier spool. Simple package that works and is quick, cheapish.

That is the biggest downside when refering to a '26 build - Those 2 words RARELY exist in the same sentance.....lol

It's most times either 1 or the other with very little room for compromise.

My car put down 340 to 350 WHP during multiple runs on a notorious low reading Mustand Dyno here in town, which I was told other have seen 50+ HP gained when running their vehicles with similar HP on this Dyno, then comparing using other Dynos in town - so you could say my car is pretty close to what you are hoping for.

To achieve that, I had (that I know about):
          - 3.5" Veilside Ti Exhaust, including Big Ti extended (cat-delete built in) Downpipe.
          - HKS Open 'Mushroom' Green Filters.
          - 1.05 BAR Boost.
          - Impul Tuned/Socketed JDM ECU on OEM MAFs
          - Either R34 Ceramics or BCNR33 N1 Turbines (no 'flat bar plate' on outlet, but not stock so I was told by import paperwork...ie. "Upgraded Turbos'....lol).
          - 3.5" (Trust? I believe, no brand plate I can see) Intercooler
          - Greddy Hard Intercooler Piping (part of 'IC kit' ?)
          - (2) Apexi (red collar) Dual Chamber BOV's, vented to atmosphere
          - OEM Injectors/Fuel System etc.
          ...that's about it.

I have since gone back to an OEM ECU for the time being (and can feel the difference) since I am too lazy to install my AEM EMS, but the rest of the car is just the same.

Tune is key and you should be able to reach the same results without problems.

i still vote hybrid , if u can get a RB30E block then just get a RB20E head that would sound sooo nice. but then again good luck on acquiring any of those parts : /
id go 20 just because its my favored motor . but our the the 3 the 25 is probably your best bang for the buck .. it really depends on what you want out of your motor in the end / budget obv,

Why would you want to put a single cam head back onto the '30 ?

If it's an RB20 car, then yes. If it's already an RB26 car, WHY WHY WHY ?

I'm with Rabbit on this, Screw the 25,26 upgrade trend and build the 20. Thats what I'm doing anyways. My RB20 pulls hard at 17psi with the stock turbo. Hard part is adding enough fuel to keep the AFR and EGT down so nothing explodes or melts...

...also have to upgrade head bolts to make sure head won't lift.

26 doesn't just drop in to a gts. I think that's such a headache to go through for just 350-400. 25's can make 400 with stock internals so why not save some money and time. And any person thinking about the RB30 should be immediately referred to project horny.

yes i do have a GTS, i just wanted to try something else, but we will see when the time comes.

but since a RB26 is bareley weezing at 350rwhp it only seems like comon sense should i wnat more power in a few years.

If you have a GTS - it's pretty much a no brainer........

Have a little extra coin ? build an RB25 like everyone else does.

I don't know off hand the limits of the '20, but I am sure there are some people on this forum that are putting down 300+ from one. Check out the build threads.

Stock internal RB20DET can handle up to 500rwhp. But need to change bearings, conrod bolts, etc for some reliability.

I remember one dude in Canada with R32 GTS-T extracted nearly 400rwhp from a RB20DET on Hubdyno with I think was a Garrett GT3076R turbo, high mount exhaust manifold, etc -

                          He thrashes the R32 GTS-T -

                          Another 400whp RB20DET with T04E turbo -

Bigger capacity engine helps with building full boost earlier at lower rpm's and more torque, hp.

yeah i guess that is true i could have a pretty nice RB20 setup for the 4-5 thousand i would be spending on a RB26.

im just worried about the reliabilty, but im sure i can get better rings, bearings, ARP studs and a headgasket and it should be good i hope.
