i think the skyline forsale section should be closed to comments by users and people should be encouraged to PM or Email the seller.
that way it saves from so much clutter that happens in every single forsale thread, either bashing or senseless useless comments by users.

    just my 2cents.

      That's a great idea actually.

I hate that almost as much as I hate seeing forum Sigs listing previous owned cars....especially with *SOLD* status......like everyone really gives a f$%k what another member owned back in 1997.

They do this on the Airsoft Canada forums and I find it works out pretty well since only the author can reply to their threads which means bumps are actually worth something since you don't get bumps from people being like "sick car"

nsxprime does this I believe, its nice for organization and such.

We should have a skyline for sale section and all other cars for sale area. I mean people have to off load there winter beaters and sell cars to buy skylines

That's what the autotrader is for. I do agree with the "no comments on Skylines for sale" part though. Lets see what the guys think.

What if you have actually seen the car in person, or know the seller well enough to recommend them?

I'm not sure if I would have purchased my car without all the recommendations that were added by other users to GTR-Guy's thread.

I agree, that it is out of hand, but I think stricter rules and moderation (of course, this requires someone to take the time to do it, which is hard), would work better. i.e. no posting in someones thread unless the comments are legitimate and ask the seller questions, or request pictures (even those could be deleted once the pictures are posted), or have more relevance than "I saw item X for half that price on RHDJapan, I'll give you X-20%".

                  Just a thought :/

I'm not sure what restrictions / access you can give to users on this board, but if you could allow thread moderation (deleting posts, basically) by the original poster (within their own thread), then it wouldn't require much extra time from the moderators.

Of course, this can be abused, but.....I think it might work out better than the current situation.

how often do you honestly see someone posting that the seller is a good guy ect.. if you got a question for the seller PM him or Email, alot more personal and you can actually talk to the seller for your info, and not get a cluttered thread full of OMG YOUR CAR IS SEXY or some other random retarded comment, look at reo/timo's old car, every time its 5+ pages of bullshat nonsense. happens on almost ever single forsale thread, someones always got a stupid opinion not needed to be said on this forum, normally its omg 10,000 for a gtst i can get them for 6000, the OP posts for what he wants, not for what you may think his car is worth or parts are worth.
but i also agree with blackaura with stricter mods on the FS section so this kinda stuff doesn't happen if comments are kept. maybe have a rating sister other then iTrader that if you don't follow rules you get -1 and such, if you hit a certain point you lose posting privileges in certain forum sections or something along those lines.

                      yo word!

as a FACT i personally DO comment on ppls for sale threads, i say things like

                      - your price is good (if it is good) *if its bad price i don't say anything*
                      - also comment and offer a reccomendation if ive dealt with the person selling *assuming it was a good transaction* and in return i have had people vouch for me on here too!

and i gotta say its awesome when someone vouches for you, it makes everyone feel much more trusty.

i agree with that, but sometimes i look for cars for people lookin for cars and dont know about the site, and its annoying going through 3-4+ pages to find more info from the OP cause of a cluttered up mess of a f/s thread of worthless crap people have posted. 99% of the posts in f/s sections are useless nonsense.

I don't necessarily agree. I like to see positive comments from other members pertaining to the condition of the car, or attitude of the seller (Is he really meticulous with his car, or is he only claiming that).

Generally all the important information is in the first post. Anything can be added or changed through the edit feature. If you're interested in purchasing the car all you should have to do is read the first and last post. The first to know all the details/see the pics/price etc. and the second post to make sure it's not still for sale (even then, most sellers will mark the price in their original post as "Sold.")

I looked at countless cars on here when I was trying to find one a few months ago. And when the day comes for me to sell my Skyline, I hope that people like my car enough that I get the posts "Sick Car," "Wicked Price," or "I know this guy personally and he maintains this thing like none other..." etc etc.

I do not agree with people posting negative comments in the thread, especially when it comes to price or appearance as that is all personal preference.

I dunno. All in all I see many benefits and disadvantages to having them open. I like the idea of giving OP's the ability to delete posts they deem unneccessary.
DISCLAIMER: If any of the above comments in this post hurt your feelings you are likely taking me too seriously; I'm probably just busting your balls. If you're unsure, feel free to PM me and we can discuss the matter privately, as to not pull the thread OT.

After reading comments in this thread, what about limiting post count to say 25 post's and post's that are not backing up seller, etc are removed??? Just state these conditions in a sticky in forsale section of forums. It would make the moderators job alot easier, have less pages and take up less room on server.
