  • Pricing of skylines in QC going CRAZZY!!!!

as you all should know, the news was released today that quebec will no longer allow new RHD vehicles registerred.. a quick look for skyline GTR's on kijiji, and lespac reveals something shocking. but not that surprising.

GTR's in quebec are now being sold for $17,000 for a decent GTR with minor mods.

theres one on kijiji RIGHT now, with a broken crank the guy is asking for $12,000...

this is crazy, the pricing is going nuts!!!

isn't somekind of good news for us, i mean its very bad news overall, but our cars are now worth 2x more, i could probly sell mine for 20k

anyway, they prolonged the law another 180days, we can still buy RHDs from other provinces as long as they were plated before april 29th 2009 (bought mine in march ouff)

but parts aren't going to get more expensive, thats the good thing

i just sucks that we won't be able to drive newer models as they become available for import

lets just say that i'm going to be ALOT more carefull with my current GTR than my last one... because buying another won't be an option

thats exactly my feelings frank.... we need to be a LOT more careful, especially of thieves, and accidents.

i don't think parts market will change that much, personally 90% of everything i buy for my car comes from out of province and usually out of europe, japan, or australia anyways.
        so no biggy

Oakville, prices for GTR's that AREN'T regi'ed in montreal are probably worth close to nothing as they've been sitting collecting dust for the last 6 months, and now for another 6.. If they don't decide to part, they will be selling out of province, but now's a good time to buy in montreal and have it brough back to ON or elsewhere.. Unplated cars are like paper weights.. Blows..

So they're just stopping new imports.

Nothing to do with safety, just money. That's another can of warms however...

Yea well, i could understand if we had a dying auto indusry, but we don't. The majority of cars bought and sold here are Japanese, ie. Honda, Acura, Nissan, Infinity, Toyota... Our markets are doing reasonably well in comparison to that of the US, considering their vehicle prices undercut our retail by 20%.. If i were to buy a vehicle, the first place i'd go is the US...

At any rate, the whole issue behind this ban is that it was a "loop hole" and hardly any, if ANY money, was being made by the government upon these sales (minus regi, insurance..). So yes, Money is the leading factor here. The government wants to quit handing out freebies and recupe some losses; losses which obviously make no sense. The point is, accident statistics are just a way of diverting from the main premise, money. It's a shame that they point the finger at us and give us a bad rep, because i can honestly say someone who reads these articles then sees my car on the road will turn to his wife and say, "that's one of those dangerous cars that has statistically caused 40% more accidents then a LHD car!".... Absolutely bs.

Yes, that's the flaw. They have created this overly-exaggerated hype to scare the public from discouraging more purchases and support of RHD, but rational people still purchased RHD cars for their value, so they had to pass a law to stop this forcefully.

                      lame.

ya i agree,, we're all being painted with a $hit colored brush!

maybe we should sue for slander, its not right that people feel "because you drive X car.. you're a hazard on the road"

when i think the truth of the matter is that those of us with these rare cars try our best to keep them out of accidents and not drive wrecklessly, because my god, the insurance rates will kill us if the accidents don't.
