PM WannaFerrari on the forum, I'm pretty sure he has a LHD GTR, actually I think it may have even been for sale a little while ago.

Honestly though why do you want a LHD GTR? Is it the visibility issue? I was concerned with this as well and had designed a camera system for the car. Once I got the car I realized that it was pointless and didnt bother with it because I could see just fine in RHD, any left turns that would have been difficult in RHD would have been just as difficult in LHD as well from my experience.

I was mainly thinking of it because i thought it might be easier to insure (lower costs) and the visibility doesn't seem like a problem judging by people experience posted here, but it would be a plus to see oncomming traffic! HAHA! I just wanted to mainly know how much of a difference a lhd would make to insurance companies

i dont think the insurance companies care in fact i know my insurance company can charge a premium just for being modified beyond stock and im sure this would fall under that category. i actually found a shop in edmonton that has done quite a few left hand drive conversions and this guy is ANAL!! he spends most of his time fixing other shops f*%! ups. and he said he can do it for about 5 grand and about 40-50 hours shop time (not on top of the 5 g's) he just asks you provide an s13 or s14 front end harness dash firewall and all. but i had the same concerns with the visibility issue but trust me its not an issue i could see just fine havent tried passing on a 2 lane highway yet though im sure that would be worse then a lht:P and besides its a skyline if you wanted a left hand drive then dont buy a rhd :P

The main reason i am asking about lhd is to see if actually having lhd would make it easier to get insurance here with reasonable rates, not so much for easier driving (that would just be a plus, but driving on the right is differant/challenging/fun which i want to do as well HAHA!)

Why not call up a few insurance companies and see how easy it would be to insure a LHD skyline?

This issue is not the steering wheel...at least here in manitoba the issue is the non compliant parts...lhd or rhd your headlights are still not dot. thats what it boils down to, so i doubt insurance would be any better.

I think getting a standard correct digit for na vin would help out a lot.

No disrespect, but Manitoba is very different from Ontario ATM in regards to insurance. Manitoba has the whole DOT issue but that isnt really a problem in Ontario. Here our issue is companies not wanting to insure RHD cars and if they will insure RHDs they generally dont like cars that are modded. Many of them have Skylines on their do not insure list so to the OP I would be checking with your broker first before even considering LHD conversion. I would be also checking if a LHD conversion will be a mod that makes it uninsurable. Also dont accept the broker saying that should be fine or I dont see too much of an issue with it, the majority of them dont know a thing about insuring these cars. Tell them to call the insurance company, ask specific questions, and get an actual quote as these are generally valid for a few months.

Also you need to read this thread in its entirety if you havent already: http://forums.gtrcanada.com/eastern-...hds-today.html

From what I have heard, and this is just rumors, MTO doesnt do that anymore but a call to the MTO will answer that question pretty quickly. Please report back if they give you an answer.
