It's not our fault that CADA are not being competitive with their prices. All of their arguments are not even valid. No wonder people name them Stealerships for a reason. They wany you to buy their cars, charging you their prices they set and rip you off when you bring it in for serivice. Safety? That's rubbish, we all know about Shaken.

I support RHD's in Canada because I drive one and because i firmly, firmly believe in the statement "people crash cars, cars don't crash cars"
Every month a new article is published and the RHD community gets all uptight and defensive (and they have a very good reason too), but all this defending and commenting on sites like gtrcanada and other RHD sites isn't going to raise ANY awareness. The Canadian government doesn't wake up in the morning and check GTRcanada to see what RHD car owners think of there cars and the safety of them. It would be nice, oh so nice, but it doesn't work like that.
I find that the people on GTRCanada are very unbiased and we are quick to point out that RHD's do have flaws. yes, in comparison with LHD cars, RHD's do have some disadvantages (left hand turns and intersections, passing on 2 lane highway, yielding when a side passenger is in the car). BUT, all of those can be avoided and compromised with some skill and god given smarts. DOn't be dumb when driving any car, but be a smarter driver when in a RHD. I personally believe that after daily driving a RHD for a full season now. It has made me become a more alert and safety conscious driver than i was before (whether im in a RHD or LHD)
None of us can argue that all it takes is some 16 year old hothead in his new 180sx trying to race some grand am, crashes it and gets all this media attention. Sure, that media attention goes away, but then it comes back in a couple of months with a new article. One of these times, the media attention is going to stay, and the RHD community has to be prepared for that day and defend there RHD cars with all there life.
One way that we can be prepared for that day is by slowly raising awareness for RHD cars and showing that they are not as unsafe as the media portrays them and as other people may think.
QuietChaos is making a move in the right direction that we should all take note of. When one of these biased or misinformed articles comes up, we need to write a calm and informative reply that lets readers get a perspective from the inside of an actual owner of a RHD car, or a very informed follower of the RHD scene.
Same goes for an article that is written that has positive things to say about RHD cars. We can still reply and add to the article and/or state how the article was informative and shares a message that is different from the other hate articles out there
I love my Japanese vehicles, all 4 of them. i will stick with a Japanese vehicle as long as they are making them. My first car was a Jap scrap and i pray to God that my last one is
Whether it is a RHD or LHD i drive my car because i believe it is a well engineered car that suits my tastes, and im sure most of you feel the same

Not really on topic but thought I would share.
My buddies "certified used" 08' chevy 1500 with 96,000kms was purchased WITH a leaking pinion seal, and on tuesday we had to change out his U-joint which upon further inspection had no remaining bearings left in 2 caps... (10,000kms after purchase)
So much for "certified used inspection" they must be blind not to see a leaking differential.2009 Mercedes C63 AMG. Daily

i love how they pay some nobody mechanic to say a few lines to support their argument and people will read that and be like oh if a mechanic says these cars are bad then it must be haha. slip him a few hundred and im sure he will say everyone should invest in the future of gm (smirk).
australian laws are much much easier to get cars. You pretty much can get any car you want no matter the age or where its made or if it was sold locally. Its actually made australian car producers up their game and start making and importing really good cars to australia. New gtr you can now buy from factory because of the push from the import scene as well as a move from ford to offer turbo version of many of their cars.

take $10,000.00 and look around at what you can buy....
will it certify,is it rust-free, does it have less then 90,000km, does this vehicle look/feel like it will serve your purpose for a couple of years
if your answered no to all of these question congradulations youve bought a domestic!
and now your car worth $6,000 driven off the lot.
if you answered yes and its domestic youve been cheated and if you look again .. yup your service lights on..
if you bought a rhd you waited abit and paid some extra for shipping/compliance but
driven off lot your cars worth double now and will slowly depriciate
plus
it certified, is rust-free, less then 90,000km, and will be around 5 years from now

So how much did CADA pay you write that article?
which article you ask? http://www.timescolonist.com/right+h...619/story.html <--- that one
lets go over some things shall we.. id comment on the papers website but there are no commenting section... conveinient eh?
well lets just go down the list:
the title of the article... is RHD right for canada... RHD is just as right for canada as LHD... the question you should be asking is " should canadians be driving" LHD or RHD makes no difference to a compitent driver... i drive both and i have ZERO problems, ive been driving both for a few years now and guess what no accidents in either... i must be a rare statistic(rolls eyes)
there are NO restrictions for RHD and why should there be? statistically around the world there is no issue with driver position... and thats even with varying methods of traffic RHT and LHT... the 2 studies performed in canada thus far have been inconclusive.... the icbc study was majorly flawed since it only uses claim data. it did not account for at fault, involvement of alchohol or severity of the collision... rock chipped windsheilds and door dings were in that study, they also used vehicles more than once and in more than one category... they even had vehicles that were not even 15yrs old at the time which means they were ineligible for import and legally shouldnt have been on our roads due to our import laws... the other study the one in quebec is also flawed as it was only about young males in sports cars... of course that group will be dangerous... they are dangerous no matter what they drive or what position the steering wheel is in... also that study was performed after there initial 180day ban was in place which will cause the drivers to be more cautious which will skew the results... id also like to mention how prior to the 180day ban in quebec there was not a single death associated with RHD, yet 1 month after there was 3 deaths... and none of those were the fault of RHD, one was drinking and driving, the other was street racing... cant blame the car on those ones....
you bring up the issue about passing on a 2-lane highway... gee as a supposed driving instructor and an owner of a driving school, which honestly scares me considering your lack of knowledge about RHD vehicles; there is no requirement that you pass, there is no law saying " on a 2-lane highway you must pass a slower vehicle by going into the oncoming lane " like really... are you that ignorant? as an owner of both i can tell you it makes no difference which i drive... if i CHOOSE to pass it is because i know its safe to do so... in a RHD vehicle it is very easy to adjust driving style to make a safe pass if wanted, again i dont have to pass if i dont want to.... how you do it is very easy(lol here i am teaching you how to drive, arent you a driving instructor hmpf) first you drop back to a safe distance 30m is usually adequate, then if you are unable to see pull closer to the shoulder and look down the road if you can see its clear give it a few seconds to make sure any cars hidden by the vehicle in front pass, then move into the oncoming lane when its safe and pass the vehicle... walla done... pretty easy isnt it...
convex mirrors attachted to the outside of a vehicle... coming from a driving instructor really... i was taught to use shoulder checks and to rely on my eyes not my mirrors... when was the last time you were taught how to drive? i rarely use my mirrors in either of my vehicles... i shoulder check all the time, its much much safer...
parking on the left side of the road when ever possible? what the hell are you talking about.... i have NEVER parked on the left because its easier to pull away from a curb after parralel parked... pulling away from the curb is very easy, if there is a large vehicle blocking my shoulder check veiw i will look into my mirror and proceed slowly, i may have to adjust the angle of my car or mirrors but again never had an issue... and further more i have never once heard of a RHD vehicle cutting off a vehicle when pulling away from the curb and i have never heard of a RHD vehicle being hit by another vehicle after pullking away from the curb.... unless you have statistics and proof to back up your claims, you should not voice your opinion because unless you have facts your statements are fiction...
ive coppied these two last paragrapghs because of how baffled i was with your statements
"It appeared to me that the car was driverless, barrelling down the highway. It was a right-hand driver, with a partner attending to children in the back seat. There are inherent misunderstandings when most pedestrians, cyclists, scooters and motorcyclists assume that the driver will always be positioned on the left side of every vehicle.
We should all be more attentive to the right-hand drivers around us. A legal requirement for a sign placement on the back of such vehicles, warning others of a right-hand drive vehicle would be very much appreciated. "
when you saw the passenger attend to there children did this cause you to crash? veer off the road? slam on your brakes? if you answered yes or almost to any of those questions then you should not be driving because you are an unsafe and easily distracted driver... people need to be more attentive as a whole when near traffic and vehicles... and it takes a fraction of a second to look from the left to the right side of a vehicle, people are just too complacent...
your statement " we should all be more attentive to the right-hand drivers around us" um HELLO we should all be more attentive to ALL of the vehicles around us, RHD, LHD, CHD. vehicles period people need to pay more attention to the road and less attention to the radio...
you gonna pay for it? " a legal requirement for a sign placement on the back of such vehicles, warning others of a RHDV would be very much appreciated " so what about cyclists, pedestrians? are they gonna be following a RHDV? or would they most likely be infront of a RHDV? a sticker on the back would do nothing for safety... the majority of drivers dont pay attention to the road now... and you would prefer them to be reading a sign on the back of a car... hell most people wouldnt read it and just dismiss the sticker as some kind of joke bumper sticker... the solution to this is self-education, becoime a more aware driver of what is on our roads. and currently there is a law requireing RHD vehicles that do not have proper turn signal lights to have a sticker on the back indicating its a RHDV so that other drivers on the roads know to look to the right side of the car for hand signals.... oh but of course since you are a driving instructor you would know this right... because you teach people how to drive and such...
how is it that i am having to educate a driving instructor on very basic and very easy to find knowledge about RHDV?
perhaps all of those students you have taught shoulnt be driving because there teacher didnt teach them how to be a safe driver... maybe you should have to be recertified... im scared for my mother who lives in victoria knowing that there are unattentive unsafe uneducated drivers on the road and you who were there supposed teacher got them on it...
RHD or LHD makes no difference.... its all the driver... cars are like guns, doesnt make a difference which hand you hold it in or which side you drive from... guns dont kill people, people kill people, cars dont crash BAD DRIVERS do!!!!
in closing i think you have no clue what you are talking about and have formed an opinion based on an uneducated guess, your opinion is based on fiction not facts and as such is not worth a red cent.

Honestly, the Times Colonist article wasn't even that bad. Although there is some misinformation, ie "crash rates of right-hand-drive vehicles, which are reputed to be twice the average of left-hand-drive vehicles". He never suggests anything about banning them, he suggests that other drivers be more aware of RHD, and makes the suggestion of mirrors to RHD vehicle owners. It's a better article than the other bs out there.

its still a negetive article, it does not represent an unbiased opinion... its more fear mongering and lie spreading... if anything this article is just as bad if not worse than other stuff out there because of how tame the message is... rather than an in your face "BAN THEM" its a " maybe we should not have these on our roads" which leads to BAN THEM... this article is just sugar coated fecesHow many kids with A.D.D. does it take to screw in a light bulb?
