I have a question, hoping you guys can help. My R33 has Nismo LMGT1s. I'm unsure of the offset, but I'm looking at changing the size from 275/35/18 to 275/40/18 to fit the RE11s. I have Star specs on right now. According to the online tire calculator:
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
    275/35-18 3.8in 12.8in 25.6in 80.4in 788 0.0%
    275/40-18 4.3in 13.3in 26.7in 83.8in 756 4.2%

Does anyone think I'll have rubbing issues with the RE11? With the Star Specs I rub on occasion at highway speeds when I hit a large crest or bump. Are the RE11s worth the extra $300 and risk of rubbing? I love the Dunlops, but would not mind trying the Bridgestones. I might also consider the 265/35/18s.

ish.... the tire will be 13.75mm taller (radius)
      thats alot!

anyway, your speedo will be wayyyy off (4% over, so if your speedo is showing 100km/h your actually going at 104)
i would strongly sugget agaisnt a 40 profile with 18" wheels
stay in the 35, or a bit wider and 30

and imo, if the price difference is 300, its not worth it

what do you think of the Sumitomo HTZ III ?

I mean 240 us + shipping + tax = close to 300$ for a difference of .5ish point in dry traction from tiretracks?

I agree I don't know shi about tracking, but for spirited drive, after 3 months, they are pretty pretty good, lots more than my general exclaim uhp.

That's kind of what I was thinking. My speedo is already way off. When my car was legalized they put a converter/ MPH sticker in. Now my speedometer reads half of what speed I'm actually doing. I use my PFC to tell me exact speed. It's dead on with my GPS.

I like the Star Specs a lot. I will probably put another set on. I was also thinking of buying a set in 17 (for my stock wheels) and buying R comps for the LMGT1s. We'll see.

The RE-01R were grippier but cost more than the star spec. The RE11 are supposed to be better than the RE-01R but I have yet to use the new tires as I haven't worn my 01Rs yet. Star spec is great if you're on a budget, they're great tires for excellent traction while not spending too much.

As for speedo being far off, I run shorter gears to accomodate my taller tires 8)

from what i've heard from a couple local lappers, the older RE-01R were better than their replacement RE11

Eekk. Hope you're wrong (no offence lol). They cost like $450 each...

I had heard they stopped producing the 01R cause they were sold for too little of a profit so they made the 11s a bit better but cost a more realistic price.

That can't be true. Tires are surely cheap to make... Maybe not the engineering side (choo choo)...
