  • GTR won't turn over.?

So the thing is, it was running fine. Then all of a sudden calgary got to -40, i took it to work and ran fine there. After work it started up right away then it started dying slowly;obviously cuz it was cold. Instead of pushing in the clutch or giving a tap of gas I did nothing then it died.

Now when I try to start it, it won't even turn over.

I have power and battery reading of about 12.8-13.4, I know it's a bit low, but I had it boosted and nothing.
I put the key in and when I turn it, it just goes "doong" and won't even try to turn over =[

any advice? Is there a possibility when it warms up itll go? or should I just bring it to the shop/ Ima get a block heater installed

So the starter doesn't even try to spin? Did you check fuses, relays, starter solenoid? See any wires that may have snapped?

What plugs are you using? What oil are you using? I would have sat with it for a few mins and kept it revved until it could hold its own. . .what tune if any? Chances are it's flooded. . .

I had a similar issue couple weeks back. I went to start the car just to let it run for a bit while in storage. Lights everything worked but the car just made a click sound when I tried to turn it over. Voltage was like 10-12volts. I tried boosting and a bunch of other tricks, finally I gave up, took the battery out and charged it for a night. Tried it next day. Started up like nothing happened. Hopefully issue is that simple for ya. If that doesn't work, i would then look into starter and or fuel pump.

I had my Skyline out all last week in that crappy deep freeze. kept her plugged in at work all day, she chugged a little in the evenings when trying to start but she did. Only thing that happened was it blew an AWD fuse which apparently also took out my ABS and cigarette lighter.

Last winter i had problems with the car rough idling in the cold and then occasionally dying but she'd always start again. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

Did you check the battery terminals to make sure the connection was solid?

I had to boost mine before I stored it this year and I had to fool around with the booster cables a bit because the connection wasn't securing properly.

I am a truck mechanic..most common -no start- is the starter flat spotting.

                        Try this..
                        take a hammer...........
and Hit (tap a skyline) the starter repeatedly, after some one turns the key.

safety: use wheel chalks. so buddy in the car does not run you over

tool tip: get or borrow a battery Load tester
the battery is probably drained by now.

Why not?!? It's just a car like any other. I drive mine too, had a similar prob but it turned out it was just too cold. Pushed it into the shop at work, let it sit for an hour or two and she fired right up.

AWD Twin Turbo in calgary snow and ice... is awesome! just take care of the car with the salt and snow and she'll be alright.

Hopefully your skyline has been able to start now with the weather clearing up as it has.

That sounds like fun, but in Ontario they salt like crazy, and in one season your skyline would be a rust bucket
