What's your plugs gapped at? If 1.1 you need to regap to 0.8. Have you tested coil packs as well? If not start there and work your way up till u find it.
Oh yea, do some reading. These cars are not for noobs. Try googling the issues and you should find tons of info.
Knock sensors are essentially microphones, any type of detonation will set them off. Spark, fuel, and air are the only things to worry about, make sure all three are good.

Coil packs are between the valve covers, just remove the center cover and they are underneath. Most cases you use a multi meter to test resistance in the coil. You will need to remove them to test. I forget which pins, there are three, you are basically looking for less than 0.9 ohms. Any higher and the coil is dying. It is also a good opportunity to check your plugs as well. Also take a look at the wiring harness that connects the coils, I have had issues there before. Check the tech sections on the forum here, there are some good "how to's" for figuring out most of the issue you have.

Think it could be the 91 supreme gas thats in her do these cars need a higher octane to run peak?

I've run with 91 and 94 and notice no difference except in my wallet. I've even had to run 89 when primo was sold out and been fine. Unless you're leaning out at higher boost, I wouldn't worry too much about fuel.

My car was tuned for the high octane fuel in Japan when I got it - ran like s*&t. Had to be retuned for our octane. Could that cause the knock sensor to fault?

Knock sensors detect knock. For some reason your engine is knocking, so you're either running lean or your timing is too advanced. Could also be bad gas, but since you already refilled the car, i wouldnt worry about it. Things i would check:
                        1. See if both knock sensors are plugged in all the way and are not broken
                        2. Check your timing on idle. I believe rb25 idles around 20 deg btdc. You will need a timing light to do that. If its something like 25 deg or higher, you will need to adjust the Cam Angle Sensor on the front timing cover.
                        3. If you have diagnostic tools, i would observe the maf voltage when it triggers the code. If it increases smoothly and all of a sudden becomes jumpy, replace the maf.
Then there are more things that other people mentioned already, like coils, plugs, boost/vacuum leaks etc etc..
If you cant do proper tests at home, i would highly suggest to take the car to a shop that works on skylines and know what theyre doing. It will save you time and hassles trying to figure out the problem...
                        Either way, good luck
