  • Best Bang For Your Buck Gauges

Before someone says anything yes I did search...alot, but I found myself less sure of what I wanted as I read. Was first looking to get the HKS 60mm gauges (boost, oil pressure, oil temp, EGT and interface unit). But now I wonder if there is a brand that offers decent qaulity meters with out having me pay extra for the name. any takers here?

IMO Autometer is american crap. You see them on cavaliers and mustangs.. not Skylines.

If you need to go the cheap route for gauges, ProSport have proven to be as accurate (if not more) as Defis, and at a good price.

Yeah, but they don't do the pretty start up thing that Defi's do!! lol, that's my favourite thing about them...up down.

Stack cluster...go pro or go home!!!!!

Best bang for you buck, top notch build quality, use by professional racer!!!

If you have a lower budget, I would get the R-vit DS from Blitz or HKS Camp II and get all the info off a lcd screen.

I went with ProSport for mine, haven't been disapointed yet.

Their Premium series are available in either American or Metric, offer pretty much the same options as the Defis (warning, peak, hold) but without the hastle of requiring a controller.

Apparently their customer service is pretty good for customer satisfaction as well (from what I've read). Oh and their about 1/2 the price of Defis if not even cheaper.

I have heard the same thing about Autometer, not sure if it's justified or if people are assuming because american cars use them then they must be crap.

I'll have to check out ProSport

If you look in the group-buy section. I tried a PROSPORT Group-buy and people only said sh*t about these gauges and nobody want them so I'm now starting a STRI Gauges group-buy.. They do the same ceremony as Defi.

Yeah I did alot of research before choosing to go with ProSport, and opinions are shared on them. One thing I have noticed when researching, is people saying **** against them are usually always referring to quality control and not accuracy. Yes they are made in Taiwan, and yes to get something cheaper you need to cut on production somewhere, but ProSport have excellent customer service...if you have ANY problems with them, they will always accomodate you.

One thing I liked was their 100% refund if your not satisfied. So basically you can try em out, and if you don't like them just return them. That's what I did, and I haven't had a problem yet.

Oh and they also have the whole opening / closing ceremony and the works like all Defi gauges.

Guys, before you start knocking AutoMeter...you should know that Stack is a division of AutoMeter lol. And no, AutoMeter does not make "crap", their products have been used by world-renown racing teams in drag and circuit racing vehicles and just recently started to become a more and more common gauge in drift vehicles, they've been used for generations and are still used today. AutoMeter makes great products, despite what others may think. Just because it was made in the USA, doesn't mean it's crap. I trust AutoMeter (20+ years of experience) over ProSport, STRI, GlowShift and all the new companies coming out. AutoMeter's products are very accurate, they last a long time, come in a variety of different styles, and have the R&D and proven race use to back them up. Just my opinion though. For the record, DEFI makes gorgeous gauge sets, they're pricey, but they look very nice and are an accurate, functional meter as well. Again, all depends on what you really like !
