The main thing with water/meth is that you're not using it when you don't need it since it's based on trigger, unlike race gas which is always in your tank and costs much more. I'll most likely be running water/meth since I have a street car and don't care for race gas in a rocket grocery cart!

I'll bet it was a limitation of the application, not the technology.

        Makes sense.

You've still got to acknowledge you're increasing complexity and creating another potential failure point. A 'no flow' alarm on the injection system that limits boost would go a long way toward forgiving the consequences of running out of fluid, injection pump failure, hose blockage/rupture, etc.

Does anybody on here actually use it? It would be interesting to hear what kit your using, and your opinions on it. Where can you get the meth anyway?

i use the AEM water meth kit with twin medium sprayers one in the front of the intake plenum for the first 3 cylinders and 1 in the middle for the last 3. I run 28psi on 94 octane chevron fuel with the water meth injection making 510awhp & 443ftlbs... almost nothing under the hood is stock but i'd protect my investment with water meth anyday, its only 1 gal of meth per 3 tanks of fuel.

            just my 2 cents...

EDIT: Methoyl Hydrate at Lordco, already mixed and ready to go...

I myself have not used it, however I have done A LOT of research on it since I was going to run it on my RX7.

Many guys tune thier cars safe on pump, and add meth/water to just cool the intake charge. I've heard/read that you can run windshield washer fluid as a good alternative.

The best place I have found info on aux injection is on the rx7club.com forums under the special subforum dedicated to aux. a lot of it crosses over and can apply to RB's.

One of my buddies running water/meth injection in his diesel truck runs windshield washer fluid. He just has a line running from the bottom of the reservoir. You just have to make sure that it's not the stuff that has synthetic stuff in it (like RainX) and you're fine.

i was told there is other additives in windshield washer fluid that are bad to be burnt and leave deposits behind... plus you have to use the winter bugwash dont you its the blend with methonal in it for de-icing.

Yes, the -40 blend contains the most methanol which is what you want.

There are other additives in windshield washer fluid, I think it's debateable weather or not they would leave any deposits behind. Personally, I would rather just run pure methanol and not worry about all that stuff, but maybe I'm a bit picky There are plenty of people who run windshield washer fluid and I haven't heard of any reports of people having issues, but there very well could be some.

It depends on the type of windshield wash. The walmart stuff is probably the best because it'd be made cheap as fukk...with no other additives other than the methanol.
My tuner says all it does is leave dye on the inside of your intake manifold.
Just search around, and I'm sure you'll be able to find the best (most additive free) stuff to get...
Or, you could look into getting a 50Gal. drum of it from a chemical supplier. lol

I love the thing and its worth it every time I start it. As soon as it stops make me smile ill get rid of it (not gonna happen)

I guess the methanol reduces the surface tension of the water, allowing it to atomize into a finer mist, making it work a bit better...not to mention that half of the charge will be flammable (not that it makes a significant difference).
But yeah like falcon said, you can just run straight demin or distilled water. I probably wouldn't use just tap water though.

Not too sure, but it would make sense to use distilled because there are less contaminants.
