AIRCARE test count - survey - How many times did it take you to pass ???

I had to do it twice. The first time it BARELY failed, I think I was over by 2% in ONE thing. Next time, a nice spirited drive and it was good!

Funny story, for my winter car, a 2000 Mazda protege. The car had the engine check light on, I figured it was the EGR valve as this is a VERY common problem on these cars. So anyway, first time, it failed. Fair enough. Second time:
- Sea-foam in the intake and gas tank
- 4 bottles of gas line anti-freeze
- fill up on the highest octane gas, 94 at petro
- Redlined the hell out of it in EVERY gear for about 30 mins lol

Then went to Canadian tire, ask for an e-test, the guy says 1.5 hr wait. Iam like WTF?!?! Iam like ok...and Idled the car FOR THE FULL 1.5 HRS!! LOL!
Then last 3-5 mins, held gas at 2000 rpm, and BOOM! Passes with flying colours LOL

so first time went to air care failed bad. driving test:
Hydrocarbons: max allowed 89 my car 174 fail
Carbon Monoxide: max allowed: 0.68 my car 1.70 fail.
Oxides of nitrogen: max allowed 1007 my car 1778 fail.
idle test: hydrocarbons max allowed 106 my car 214 fail,
carbon monoxide: max .8 my car 1.07 fail.

I just have a relatively stock r32 gtr with apexi downpipes and a cat back with apexi intakes. just small mods nothing special. so i took my car to allan at evolution automotive in new westminster bc. he is the air car specialist he can get any car to pass and he gets his 94 supra with a big single and his r32 gtr to pass so i figured he could help me out. i leave him my car for two days and these were my next test results:

Hydrocarbons: (first time 174) this time. 34 pass
carbon monoxide (1.70) this time .06 pass
Oxides of nitrogen (1778) this time 52.00
Idle test Hydrocarbons: (214) this time 8
carbon monoxide: (1.07) this time 0.00

passed with flying colors. allan does amazing work and will get anybodys car to pass. so if anybody wants his number or contact info pm me. i highly recommend him for any work done to any car

Since everyones on this topic I wanted to let some guys here know that I might be able to get some formula that my boss and some other people have invested in. It has gone though testing already and passes aircare in California even without the cat. I'll get more info on it but I have some samples I can get if anyone here is going to get aircared soon. I want to see this stuff work its magic =)

It was renewed. For another 10 more years. It's funny cause I believe large commercial trucks are still exempt from aircare. IMO, the program served its purpose when it first came out and a lot of people in the auto industry were anticipating aircare was to be phased out.

That's right. It's the GVRD and Vancouver City Council Way. Like carbon tax and more bike lanes. Anything else I missed? Back to the topic. I failed my first air care back in 2007 due to a bad gas cap and everysince then, it has past with flying colours.
