  • Which oil pump would you get for a bnr32 ?

I'm slowly starting to think about my new project since my first goal-project is done. So, I think it should be a good idea for me to start thinking about the oil pump.

Genuine and n1 go for pretty much the same. Oem or aftermarket? Thinking about 500whp, let say 550 just to be sure..

N1 should do you fine, but just understand that it's only rated to the factory red line.
If you want something stronger with a little more capacity go with Nismo or Jun Auto.

you just opened a whole can of worms ! this should be good for alot of off topic banter and opinions of pumps guys have never used.

I am running a N1 pump, machined the burrs off the gears, lock tight and punched the bolts and it works fine. I am currently running 520whp at only 17psi and red line is set at 7250RPM. I never shift over 6800 even when im twisting its neck since its past its peak hp and torque. Why you would want to rev higher is beyond me unless their set up is built for high revs ie big cams turbo ect.

A lot of people seem to say good things about the Tomei oil pump. Expensive piece of work, though.

Couple of threads on GTRPWR on pumps you might want to look at. I remember Allan did alot of research and concluded that if you intend on going with Nismo, the cheapest is to take out your standard pump and fit it with Reimax gears (a nismo pump is an N1 with Reimax gears).

damn 600$ for only a 2 gears.. and this will make my oil pump bulletproof. I thought the oil pumpproblem would be more ''complicated'' than just a gear set lol

The oil pump problem is with the crank collar not the pump itself.

Oh well.. N1 is 200$ so if I do 600-200. it's 400$ for something that should last for the rest of my life. I guess it's OK.

So, what else do i need to check/buy? crank collar ?

550whp is atleast 30k so why not get a real badasss one since you can afford the rest of the high hp car, though an N1 is more than good enough if you want to spend the money elsewhere.

Sure, I would spend the money elsewhere!! I think, i did pretty much everything I could do ''around the engine'' aka the supporting mods. Now, I'm working on the oil ( oil pump, catch can + oil cooler) and then, only thing left will me a rebuilt... ( I will try to keep it under 5-6k)

the key to keep the price is !NO RUSH! when you buy everything brand msrp because you can't wait, you will pay the big price but when you take your times, you can find parts that are BARELY used, or brand new but the guy crashed his skyline before he could install it etc etc.

Just remember the weakest point decides how reliable/strong a car is. Don't go putting a dry sump oil system on a car with a factory fuel system lol.
