  • Royal purple Vs. Mobil 1

Everytime you read a test on oil, there's a forum somewhere in the world that will says that this particular test was BS and the flaming will continue lol..

Canadian tire is selling the Mobil 1 ( 4.4l) 5w30 for 33+ tax so 37.50$ = 8.50/ liter. I bought one for my skyline and one for my beater.

Then, I realise, since I'm going to the USA in a month, I can bring 400$ worth of stuff without paying tax. so I can get 12 quarts of Royal purple for 85$. = 7.50$ / liter.

Considering the RP is 1$ a liter cheaper, should I return my 2 jars of Mobil 1 and get Royal purple instead or, in fact, they'r pretty much the same sh*t ?

Mobil 1, or any other "proven" synthetic oil is perfectly fine for street driving... I myself use Mobil 1 because the previous owner used it and it's good to keep oil consistant!

People make waaaaaayyy to big of a deal over oil in street driven/ daily driven cars!

As long as you keep it fresh and synthetic, there is no big difference.

I run motul 300v it's a very high end racing oil, think it's around $20 liter but definitely one of the best. Claims zero viscosity real down and has been tried and tested at lemans and other high stress endurance races all over the world. Before that I used royal purple 10w30.

Castrol Edge Sport 10W60, lasted 35 laps on boosted up stock RB20DET (330hp at engine) without engine oilcooler before engine bearing failed and engine had done alot of Targa Rally's before that without problems. That's a good test of how good oil is, by how long it last's under hard use and at high temps.

It backs up what they say about the oil, where it protect's when running hot and is designed for competition engines -

I run the same oil in my cars RB20DET engine.
