Fuel tank o-ring

OK, I just changed my fuel pump and went to put the assy. back into the tank and the o-ring that sits in the groove on the tank must be an inch larger on the O.D. There is no way it's going back in. What car has the same 0-ring? My car, 1993 R32 GTS-T.

I broke down and went to the dealership and bought the 0-ring, 17.12 incl. tax, ouch. Part # 17342-01A00. I did a little research in case anyones interested. Do not use a neoprene o-ring. If you are going to match by size look for PTFE,Buna-N or Viton material. These are rated for fuels.

Yep, I had to get a new one also. They cost a **** load for a stupid piece of rubber

$17.12 with tax is cheap, my old S12 o-ring cost me $35from the dealer and that was more then 10 years ago.

There is no way these are worth that much. I took ID,OD and thickness measurements before I put it together. I will check out a supply store like "Bardons" or some hyd. shop that sells to the public.

i wet both contact faces of my stock one with gasket maker and threw it back in, sealed perfectly

Thanks for the part number, looks like the o-ring is used in various Nissan cars from Sentra to Maxima. A quick search on the internet tells me that you can get the OEM from US dealer for $7 US but then you have to either pay for shipping or the gas to drive across the border.

Hmm, about 1,000 JPY from Nissan Japan.

Always best to change this out when pulling the pump. Spilling fuel all over it is tough not to do. Then it swells up a bit....and rotten to go back in.

this sounds like what i will do. sounds cheap and cheerful. what type of gasket maker? some fuel specific type?
