  • Stiffer bov spring?

Does a stiffer bov spring could help a vented not to open at idle or deceleration causing idling issues?

I thought I had stalling issue but my friend drove my gtr and said it was way better than his. My setup is one vented. one oem. I'm just wondering if upgrading to the stiffer spring it would help to keep the valve closed at lower rpm/non-boost.

On the dyno, I did 23psi with only 1psi boost drop so I doubt any of the two bov are leaking but I never any boost leak test to really know if the bov isnt leaking a bit at low rpm.

it did well on the dyno tho! I dont know what else to say then it actually helped a lot my stalling issue and only 1psi drop look like its doing well.

From what I understand, the loss of air inside intake piping makes engine go rich which makes engine slow down with rpm and that result's in turbo's slowing down. That causes reversion (air reversing direction when turbo's slow down) from turbo's that makes MAF voltage rise hence ECU makes engine run too rich and stalls. A trick some use is to place AFM or AFM's further away from front of turbo or turbo's which reduces the reversion effect.

Recirculate BOV (air goes back through turbo's and into intake piping) is best with draw through MAF setup to prevent engine going rich, reversion problems. With ECU + MAP sensor can run atmosphere or recirculate with BOV, as ECU can adjust to loss of air inside intake piping via MAP sensor on intake manifold.

Spring in BOV matches engine vacuum at idle -

It usually is only changed if have wrong spring for engine vacuum or fitting cams, etc.

Doesnt matter if it vents into both mafs. I run 2 forge diverter valves into a single 2 inch pipe which Y's into both mafs. One works just the same... Btw forge comes with 3 springs for different boost levels.

I think Forge has a better design internally, flange design (similar piston design as Synapse BOV) until Synapse released their new divertor valve which had better flange design (although never had problems with old design, as long as it's installed properly), but the Forge BOV's I saw didn't recirculate.

its weird some brand like Blitz sell 2 spring ( one for 17psi and less and one for 17psi + ) while other only sell it regarding vacuum. But tial make it sounds like they have the truth and the others might be bullshiting.

I think that Greddy does sell 2 springs too: 14 psi and less and 14 psi+...

I am running the VW/Audi valves. They work amazing and sound great too. Just ask Oakville lol
