  • Am I crazy? Little help

So I recently picked up a 1996 GTS-T. Today when I was making a u-turn in 2nd gear the car randomly shut off, could it be a stall? I was pretty low rpm but didnt seem that low enough to stall it. What rpm would stall the car in 2nd gear? It was very odd and that's all I could really think of that might have happened. Thanks in advance

Sometimes a faulty or misadjusted TPS can cause engine to stall out of the blue or nearly stall when revs drop. Also check for intake airleaks.

I think there's 2x different TPS setups on RB25DET. One is using a piece of metal inside TPS for idle contact (can bend over time and used on R32 and I think Series 1 R33 RB25DET) and another type of TPS that uses a voltage for idle contact, which was the solution to the idle contact bending problem (Series 2 R33 RB25DET, R34 NEO RB25DET).

TPS is mounted on side of throttlebody and helps ECU with transient throttle enrichment (electronic version of a accelerator pump if are used to carb engines) and when to kick rpm up (idle contact) to stop engine from stalling when backing off throttle (when to select kickdown tables on ECU that kicks rpm up), etc (affect's many features on ECU).

Normally would be checked, adjusted with Nissan's Consult or Nistune tuning software (light's up in software with Nistune or on Consult screen telling you TPS is touching idle contact).

i think your problem is your u-turn in second gear needed to be more of a 6500rpm u turn if you catch my drift

just kidding but check your tps if you need one i think ive got a spare.
