Yea, you use the tip of the tooth but, you are supposed to have the dial guage at level to the rotation of the gear. As in, a perfect tangent to the rotation of the object. So, if you were measuring it the way you were and the measurement was a little tight then that makes sense because you are not measuring as much lash as you should be.

Like I said before, the single piece driveshaft especially with no diff bushings with transmit much more racket from the rear like a giant tuning fork. The 2 piece won't do that because of the hanger bearing's dampening effect.

Well its all back in now. That was the first time using a dial gauge I'm sure it's still within spec.. i measured the outer edge of the gear because the outermost part would move more then the center.. thats how i thought of it anyways.
I put heavy shock proof in and that **** was like toothpaste lol nice and smooth on the bench so I'm excited to see how it feels on the road.

Also I removed the coilovers to take them apart and grease them and there were nuts on the coilover studs underneath the body skin... The locking rings were all loose.. and one rear was 1.5 inches longer then the other so whoever put these coilovers in really screwed up. So I'm thinking that might of been the issue perhaps. Gonna leave it for now and if there's still clunking I'm gonna look at the axles because they have some backlash themselves (parking brake on and able to move diff side of axle in rotation of travel)
