DRL module ( not a short cut rewire ) ( has too also activate the dash lights)but modules do that.cost is $27.99 @ Canadin Tire THIS IS NOT TRUE. THERE ARE NO REGUIRMENTS FOR THE DASH LIGHTS TO COME ON TOO
sooooo.... is it aloud to be a rewire? because thats what i was planning to do.... and isnt stinkys DIY a rewire.

the person who would suggest my re-wire is not aloud is also the same person that most of this info is from. and oddly enough this same person is against most all the DIY's that I have done. I think this is a case of personal interest getting in the way of the facts.

I know exactly who Mike is saying this info came from (originally) and it sounded a lot like a conversation we had on the phone last week.

For now, I would say that my DIY is perfectly legit and that is ALL you need to do to make the DRL's work. There is no where on the form that says "is there a drl module present?" it just says "DRL's" with a check box beside it.

The deffinition of DRL is DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. Saddly, the dash lights are NOT included as a DRL, and are NOT required to come on with the headlights. ALL you need is some sort of light that turns on the front of the car (certain hight restrictions are in place) when the ignition is turned on. My DIY full fills this.

Stevo, do it the way I show in the DIY (you should add a fuse to the wire though) and report back if it fails because of the absence of the drl module, or the dash lights coming on. I would be suprized if it did!

Since when do dash lights come on in any car with DRL? They don't. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a vehicle where they do.........

Actually my 06 oddysey has the dash lights come on with the DRL's. But any older car will not. In fact I think this is more unsafe, since I have driven for a LONG distance at night without noticing my lights were not on, since the dash was lit up. But my tails and marker lights would have been OFF the entire time!

here is a direct quote that i got from mike woods

              "
              Hi Cam
All vehicles manufactured after Dec 31, 1989 are required to be equipped with daytime running lamps as per CMVSS 108 and as per the Vehicle Inspection Manual must have DRLs to pass an inspection.
Vehicles imported into Canada from the US which require an inspection must also have DRLs to pass inspection.
              Regards,
              Michael D. Woods"

              hope it helps

and its blue because i just copied it from my emial, and for some reason he chose to email me in blue

                  Thanks rockcrete

So with the feb 9th change, these are the two who are appointed to make sure this is done.

So the shop that is doing the inspection will send them the pics and they say yes or no?

                  Correct?

And do u know if buying a already cleared skyline, will require a reinspection??

                  Thanks

if its already registered in BC then you will only need a reinspecion if u get issued a VI, so, i hope u dont live in Van or Nanaimo

haha, I took you seriously there for a moment, then came to realize that you are more informed about these cars than the 2 particular people who bought a "1988" GTR and a "1988" 300ZX.

What sort of things can I avoid having an 1988 GT-R rather than an 1989 GT-R?
