say its a nismo edition skyline, and that from stock it had the 3" outlet.

if you have nothing better to say try it, the nismo exhaust spec is 3" i think. that is my excuse.

man cops here are so dumb, thye tell me my exhuast is illegal im just like oh really lol, its not it passed safety, no ticket to date.

I noticed in NZ for example (on certification website) that they have a DB test that determines if exhaust is too loud. If too loud, exhaust has to go to certifier after it's fixed and exhaust mufflers, pipe diameter, etc are measured and noted for that vehicle. Then it's legal.

Their certification system was made up by older folk who know their cars or build custom cars themselves. It means they can have custom cars, etc on the road and a plate on firewall saying the car meets legal requirements for suspension, exhaust, etc.

From videoclips I've seen, the cops just look at cert plate, the mods the car has and look for mods that are not on cert plate or in the cert computer system and measure ride height. If all is ok, let them go. If not they pink sticker the car which means it's not safe to drive on the road and the car can be driven home only and it has to be fixed, certifid, etc before pink sticker is removed from windscreen.

My advice is to buy a handheld DB tester and show evidence on paper that it's within the legal DB limits (legal DB limit is 95DB that most country's have), etc. It hopefully should save a trip to court.

                  DB tester -

To get to a legal DB level of under 95DB, exhaust needs at least 3 mufflers -

Catylitic convertor - Square muffler near rearwheels - rear muffler.

                  or for modified exhaust -

Coby (or Japanese made cat eliminator pipe with muffler built in) - Square muffler near rearwheels - rear cannon / N1 style of muffler.

A modified exhaust system like this drops sound levels to around 84db for RB20DET.

My interpretation of that Canadian law is you need the 3 mufflers in exhaust system. Every car would be different due amount of mufflers needed to bring DB levels down to legal limits.

Although someone the Government will listen to, needs to stepup and say to put a certification system in place. It should save alot of people from going to court.

i'm referring to the look, those flat black mufflers are straight through and really aren't very quiet when you drive hard.

On a side note, why the heck is your car registered as a classic custom hot rod???
That's just asking for trouble when they run your plate.

So its insured as a hot rod, but its still registered as a Nissan skyline? I can understand that.
Anyways, like always in the history of cars. The flashier they look the more attention the cops are going to pay. You'll either have to accept that fact or have a fast car that looks stock.

I don't think any cop has every single bit of the law memorized, so if they believe the car to have an illegal mod then they'll issue a ticket.
However, if your car is so loud that it brought the cops attention by just starting it up.
Then you might want to consider getting a resonator fitted before your muffler to quiet it down a little bit.
