that has nothing to do with the OP's question...
How many kids with A.D.D. does it take to screw in a light bulb?

in short, getting a car torn down in japan, shipped in pieces, pieced back together here, register it as a kit car or u-build. That's the only way I know of but as QuietChaos posted, It's very expensive.

Ya, thats how the '34 thats up for sale here and other places got to Canada. It has "kit car" status, and a custom v.i.n. A friend of mine actually re-assembled this car. All they did was remove the engine and tranny, unbolt the hood and fenders, and cut off the rear quarter pannel skins, put it in a container, and presto! R34! Although I've heard grumblings that after the government found out about this, the ports cracked down big time, and they'll probably never allow somthing like this to slip through the cracks again.

Its funny, I heard a story that the owner of this car tried to call Nissan Canada to order in a few parts for it, and Nissans reply was literally "what the hell are you doing with that car in Canada?" lol

Now you can buy it for $80,000

They did quite a bit more than that. The car came over in many more pieces and the chassis has been cut up and welded back together. Have a look underneath.
