If doing this does it not involve jail time? Isn't this a federal law or is that just hearsay? If all you get is a couple calls and a ban then why not.

it is Legal to seperate motorset from car, invoices for parts only, import as parts only, assemble, kit vin. You have a pile of docs for all the parts by that point to shiow that you built the car.
Ive done it myself and with other people several times.
the drive down and leave it does not work. That vin is useless. No importation paperwork.
I have also packed cars in containers in Japan bound for the US. i can pack it easy enough and list the parts from it on two container pre load invoices. All legal for export. They get container cleared (hopefully with no issues) unload and enjoy however you would like. Still no paperwork tho and invoices will need to be collected to show you built the car and get kit status.
There are ways to do it. Usually takes a couple weeks of work to actually get it all done from canada to title. Just involves time to do it.
If i were in the states, depending on what state I am in, a kit title wouldn't bother me one bit. there are plenty of states to try it in that may work easy enough.
when I did the cars i done, I exported the parts myself. shell to engine... everything. It took three trips to export everything. All invoices stamped with export receipts. Thats what the DMV will want. Anyone can do it with no jail time involved. And by do it, I mean have a skyline in the US with customs paperwork as parts only.ALLEN PETERSEN
