  • 18 years old getting insured? help

Hey i was wondering about the posibilty about me getting a skyline insured for summer. Is there anyway that like i can get it insured as a second veichle under my dads name and put it on classic car insurance or something? Then some how get me insured to drive it as a secondary driver or something like that?

If not im thinking of buying the car still doing some basic work for the next 2 years and maybe just track it once or twice this summer cause i have the truck and trailor to tow it. Then try getting insured at 20 if i still have a clean driving record.

classic car / collector car insurance usually has strict guidelines. Its getting increasingly hard to get insurance for skylines in ontario to. but call around and get a broker.
    Good luck buddy

Insurance is easy to get it all depends on how much your willing to spend. 2 places i know of who will take skylines on no problem is acumen they quoted me (24clean record) at 490/mo or facility they quoted me at 526/mo

So it all depends if your willing to put out the kind of coin you have to. As for classic car insurance, i checked into that and the car would have to be in your dads name, and ANY secondary driver would also have to have 10 years of experience. Thats with silver wheels, not sure about any others. Anyways, good luck.

Im 18 and had no problem insuring my skyline. The only thing is that they wont put anything but PLPD on it. But its only $120 a month

Well I know for a fact you can insure it with Hagerty,as a show car, heck I'm 16 and i got quoted as 216/year!!! But then I read the restrictions... you cant actually drive it anywhere... and if you have a single ticket of excessive speed you're at 2160/year... so I would skip that

thanks alot guys unfortunatley i dont live in alberta so thats no help and i have been looking at those two threads and i still dont think insurance is to much of a problem for skylines. But the problem would be my age and thanks for answering the question about the classic car insurance so basically that wont work. So is there anybody that actually has gotten insurance in ontario at 18 for a skyline or even 19?

yeah man youre still in the GTA, not only will insurance be hard to find but expensive as hell too. Insuring one will be stupid silly for you man. facility will be the only route, all collector/antique policies require a lot of prerequisites met, the biggest being 10 yrs of licensed driving exp.
