Originally posted by RhdHybrid View PostI have gotten that ticket in both my RHD Honda and my Skyline for not having a Sticker, it is 50 dollar ticket, it isn't a moving violation in NL, so I smile and take it, lets face it, we drive a car that is a heat trap. However I'm not defending the cops at all, but it is a losing battle. If you fight them, they will have a serious hard on to bust you every move you make, for anything at all. In Newfoundland, they want you to have the same sticker as the one found on a Garbage truck, and you are required to display it on the rear window, similar to a Novice driver's thing. So the last time I got hauled in, I was asked about the sticker and i said, Sir, the sticker is about the size of the rear window, and if it were there I think it would be a hindrance to my rearward vision, and could potentially cause me to hit someone, or worse not see someone about to hit me....... He then gave me a ticket for a loud exhaust which is a 100 ticket.... So I should have just shut up and took the 50 dollar hit and went on my way..... Moral of the story, if you don't want to be harassed, drive a Camry or something...... Just my two cents.
Here's what I do. First, READ THE HTA. Then, when you get pulled over. Shut off your car, bust out your iphone and set it to record. Turn of the screen and place it in a good location to record (iphone 4 mic is BALLER btw). This way he cant bust you for using a cell phone device while driving since your car is shut of. Next the conversation proceeds. If he/she continues with ticket, say "Sure no problem on the ticket, along with it I will take your name, badge number, and any other piece of information that identifies you as a police officer" which they legally have to give you now. Now you have a **** ton of evidence against the police and the fight will be stupid easy.
The REAL moral of the story is, don't drive like an idiot and you wont get pulled over. If you STILL get harassed, fight it. Simple.Last edited by aN4rk1; 09-20-2011, 10:44 AM.1991 Silver Skyline R32 GT-R - SOLD You will be sorely missed girl :'(

Don't you think that's complete and utter bs? You get pulled in for one thing the cop thought you were guilty of, turns out he was wrong, and you were right (also the case of the op here) and he gives you a ticket for something else? No I am sorry I don't stand for such nonsense. The BEST thing ANYONE can do is educate themselves on the HTA and drive accordingly. Who cares if you drive a Skyline, or a Camry or anything else for that matter, if you haven't broken any rules then what is a ticket for? I personally Never got ticket in My R32 except for one noise ticket because exhaust noise going up due to me accelerating a little bit to pass someone is a sound code violation...yea ok there buddy....anyway, I fought it. It is RIDICULOUSLY easy to fight these things, Ill just leave this here: www.ticketcombat.com

The reason you are getting hauled over isn't because "you are driving stupid" it is because of the stereotype that the import cars have in general, and it may be easy for those of you to think you have a winning case in the GTA area where there are a few million people, acouple of thousand cops. Here I have a couple of hundred cops and they have a bulletin board that they all see... So I stand up for my rights as a driver, they put a little note on the board, Ken B****** owner of White Skyline(Tuner junk) is to be watched because he embarrassed Billy(Cop) in front of judge, I then get a pile of stupid tickets for everything.... been there done that, and now I have lots of Cop friends who inform me of such activity. Not all Cops are bad, most don't give a f**k, but there are the few, that a honda civic, camaro, or crotch rocket blew past his house at 4am and he doesn't give a f**k who it was, but he is ticketing you to set a example in his mind. I'm not saying to lay down and take it, but I am saying sometimes it is better to smile and nod.
End Rant. Ken

^ As true as it is that they can start keeping an eye on you, they CANNOT start ticketing you constantly for every little thing (provided you're not doing anything illegal.) If they do start pulling you over all the time, bring them to court and cite police harassment. My friend got pulled over rather consistently (and by that, I mean multiple times per day) as the police did not like his vehicle. He brought it to court and won. Police leave him alone now.

I would like to state that I'm in no way supporting the Cops..... But here is how they are doing it here in NL. There is a clause in the highway traffic act that states basically, that if there is any equipment fitted to the car that is not stock, it can be considered defective. Now this goes for wheels, exhaust, anything, it doesn't matter if you have a 3" Hi flo cat, if it wasn't on the car from the factory then it is ticket-able, that is how they are getting away with it here, know before you flame me stating DOT approved and CSA and all that stuff, if it doesn't say Nissan then it doesn't count. So instead of breaking you points wise, they try to break your wallet. each time it's two bills or so, every night or every second. Now I'm over thirty, and this doesn't happen to me, because I drive my car responsibly most of the time, and leave the hardcore stuff for the strip, and burnouts can be done behind the shop on "Private property." As for the RHD sticker on the mail trucks some of ours do, some don't. But none of them have insurance........ Like all government vehicles..... which I don't agree with at all.... But that's another rant... LOL

Also I agree, I don't wish to support the wrongful ticketing of any car enthusiast, but if i am a **** to the cop, pulling out iPhones to record and HTA's to read...
1) You are being a pain in the ass... And I know every single person on earth has encountered a "pain in the ass" at their job, even if they happen to have "the right" to be a pain; still makes you not want to help them out and now your gonna go out of your way to make their experience worse cause you can... Cops operate no differently.
2) If they decide to pull the same act on you, guarantee you lose. You gamble wayyyyyyy more than $50 bucks by being a **** at the scene.
If a wasted day is worth saving $50 bucks, by all means fight it in court, but for the love of all things holy, take the ticket and say nothing so RHD can salvage what miniscule face they haveLast edited by hozer; 09-21-2011, 01:55 AM.Originally posted by archaeic_blokehows the warp drive? i've seen far too many GTR's lately that just arent able to hit warp speed.

aN4RK1 ...."I will take your name, badge number, and any other piece of information that identifies you as a police officer which they legally have to give you now."
Not true. Each individual service has badge number for their staff and each officer is identified by a number. There is no one else by that number, therefore that is their ID. If its a police service that permits name tags like Toronto then you can read it. If your getting a ticket, their surname and badge number will be on the ticket. And any other piece of information which legally has to be provided? not in the HTA. If someone argues with an officer to see their badge ID or a business card there is nothing that says they have to do that. The purpose of business cards is for victims, not suspects. People have used business card at traffic stops saying that the officer is a friend of theirs and wanting out of a ticket. A badge # is all you need. Case and point.
