they actually don't have 240 in japan ! 240sx have a KA24DE, motor that is not available in japan, 240 are called silvias ( s13, s14, s15 ). I know, I know, that's playing with workds here.

and japan did not have 240sx's or 200sx's sO i don't really understand what you are asking because the question already has wrong facts in it maybe you are trying to get at how they 180's and silvias got bumped to an SR20 or maybe hinting something about the onevia which was a silivia with pop ups?. the difference b/w why some area called silivas, some are, 180s, 200s, etc has to do wtih the body style and they style of front. The siliva on the S13 does not have pop up headlights. The 180sx is exactly the same as our S13 240 exept it has the CA18.
