Nice job Brendan, a good detail sure takes time. I dont know to much about this part of things, what product would you suggest for rubber / engine bay hoses to treat and protect them from drying out?

thanks
hey, thanks for the kind words. To be honest with you I don't know if there is a product out there to prevent hoses from drying out, but what I use is Majestic Solutions Super Green Stuff (All purpose cleaner) diluted 3 parts water to 1 part All purpose cleaner. I clean it with that and then I use my Finish Kare 108 Protectant to leave it nice and glossy as well with some added protection. I'm not sure if it helps with the drying or not, but I haven't had a problem with it.
This was a detail I did for a family friend. He brought the car over in the morning, I didn't really take a look at it till I was about to start. I had no idea it was this bad. Regardless though I'm thrilled about the turn around. The wheels definitely far from perfect but I did what I could with it. This is a company car and the company will be selling it soon so thats why he brought it over. Anyways I'll let the pictures speak as usual. Wash:
- 2 Bucket Method w/ Grit Guards

Before, I did the lower half of the door panel (it felt like sand paper before)
After, feels like...well what paint should feel like
Most car dealers I've talked to use silicon (like the tyre gloss you use to shine tyres) in engine bay to shine hoses. Not sure if it's flammable or not. Seems easier to buy some shiny Samco intake hoses.
Got called up on Friday night to detail this beauty. The paint was in poor condition, it's stored outside so I decided to "up" the protection on it. I researched a bit before getting into it, turns out corvette clear is rock hard as well...fun fun. Results were worth it to me though, but unfortunately the paint was chipped pretty bad in some areas. So that robbed some of the results, but it still turned out great. I spent two and a half days with breaks on this vette. The hard clear coat was a pain. But anyways here are the list of products used:
So here is how the vette was delivered...it's been sitting outside under a tree so keep that in mind, and it hasn't been detailed before.
Here it is after a wash, it's all taped up and ready to be polished
50/50 shot after one pass of power gloss on a DD Yellow Uber Pad
Some more befores and some durings
Don't have pics of it, but I gave it a wash after it was polished and began to apply Bilt Hamber Autobalm. I applied two coats of it, the second coat was applied the next day.
I wish I could come home to this garage everyday
Afters:
I didn't get very many good pictures because it was dark by the time I finished a lot and there was no sun up. So I did my best. I got about 95% correction on this, I was pleased with the results. Let me know what you think!
wow.. it's things like this that makes me wish i drove a gloss car... good stuff bro
