  • RB30 Group Buy

Is anybody out there interested in a group buy on used RB30 long blocks and RB30 4WD adapter kits for installation into GT-R/GTS4?

We're looking at a landed cost of around $1,000 (plus or minus) for each part if we get a decent number of people.

The RB30 will work with either an RB26 or RB25 head (the stock head is only a single cam) - the RB20 head's ports are too small though.

There are a number of things you will need to do to make it fit, but nothing too major - it's an easily doable project and well documented online. The adapter kit is expensive, but it's the best one on the market - there will be no screwing around making it fit or with your oil pump pickup like some of the other kts out there.

Same adapter kit R.I.P.S. New Zealand uses on all there RB30's. That is one reason why their engines are direct drop in.

Yeah 1000 bucks is good deal I think by the time i landed mine here it cost me a total of 1200 after shipping and all that. And I only payed 200 for the block itself

Yeah anyone who wants to make a decent build for these i would start ordering parts now lol my pistons are still not here 4 months later

Hey guys I've got a good possability of getting a rb25 neo But im woundering how hard it would be to get a rb30 bottom end and an rb26DETT to fit in a 1991 gts-t. I was told that doing to RB26DETT swap is a lot of work but would using the rb30 bottom end save me alot of work using the rb25 tranny???

How many buyers are needed to get the price of $1000 for the longblock and adapter plate?

Are these series 2 blocks, and I assume the cylinders will be checked for bore and cleanliness?

It's an adapter so you can bolt your RB26 sump and diff to the RB30 block - only needed if you have AWD.

These will just be standard wrecking yard used motors, and depending on how many people want them how the final price works out as the shipping costs considerably more than the motors........

I see. I got a couple of questions I wasn't able to find any answer on the forum: What do you use for bore/stroke on a rb30 ? And what does the wall thickness looks like ? Does it allow a fair amount of overbore ?

                        Thanks !

EDIT: I found the bore: 86mm but nothing on the stroke. Can you use the standard R32 crankshaft ?

                            Stroke on a RB30 is 80mm I believe. Normal GTR is 73.7mm.

You can do an overbore of up to 87.5mm safely, which would make it a RB3.1 if I am not mistaken. You can also increase stroke even more to make a RB3.2 or RB3.3 if you wished but not really any point.

RB30 is a square motor. Stroke is 86mm. How do you know you can safely overbore to 87.5mm?

Mike, If these are wrecking yard motors, will there be someone checking the quality of the blocks? I'm interested for $1000 for a longblock and adapter kit, but I'm weary of spending that money only to find out there is a crack in the block after getting it over here and magnafluxing it in the shop.
