  • Brand new R34 Crank - $600

Is $600 realistic for an R34 GTR Crankshaft?

  • #2
600 is on the low end. but yes id say 600-700 is a good ball park of what you should be paying without getting ripped off. I think mine was 665 to my door or something from braden at jns. nismoparts has them for pretty cheap if i remember correctly but keep in mind its a few month wait to get one from them (or atleast it used to be)

      700-800$ actually.

or the collar at 100$ + 150$ for machining /polish.

I was looking into the getting the collar and machinging, but id prefer to just get new because in the end i think it would be cheaper. The Nitto collar is $200 + about $300 machining to get it sent out + more time + (Hopefully not a balance and polish), id prefer to just say to hell with it and get the R34

Even with a new crankshaft, You'll still want to machine that pump drive machined to fit correctly no?

Nah thats the whole point of the R34 Crank, theyve changed it slightly and have changed the pump drive so much more surface area and 'bite' is there to drive the pump

Man oh man! this has been covered so many times i dont know how there is still so much confusion and false understanding! I am talking from 100% personal experience and research. I bought a r34 crank from a nissan dealer. Me and Allen rhdjdms13 on here who has done extensive works with rbs and even makes his own collars measured the nose on my r34 crank. well guess what there was still way too much play on both my oem oil pump and my tomei unit. just simply buying a r34 crank does little to solve your oil drive problems. you will still need a crank collar made specifically to mate with your oil pump. just buying a nitto collar will do little to solve your problems. I spent 6xx for my r34 crank plus 250 to have a collar custom made and installed to give .01 clerance on each side total .02 overall. If i could go back and do it again i would of just used my r32 crank. buying a new 34 crank just saves you the cost of having your used crank polished. to sum it up buying a r34 crank does not solve your oil drive problems!!!

Well WTF, I though the whole point of getting an R34 Crank Shaft was so that they didnt have to worry about extra collars or anything.

Ya I tried to find it before I made this thread. It had great pictures showing the contact area 'bite' of the oil pump on each of the cranks and everything.

Yea thats what lots of people think. What pump do you plan on running? I mean Josh who no longer has his car nor is his motor still running said that he had a "tight" fit with his n1 pump and a r34 crank but he never measured the clearances. Me and Allen did measure them and they were way out on both the oem pump and my tomei pump.
