I remember reading somewhere that the accepted 1.3L capacity of the rotary is actually a misnomer. Anyways, I tried to google the tech article where I read that and came up empty. Rotaryheads like Murphy should chime in here.

I've spent a lot of time in big engined cars like the C5, old Mustang 302s. I used to own a Suburban Still prefer my car! If you have not driven one, I highly recommend it. The NSX forums are full of ex P and F-car owners who likes our little gutless wonder. I was offered a 2001 996TT this week in exhange for my nsx. Reason? The guy sold his nsx for the porsche, thinking it was a logical move upward. 3 years later he cannot stop hanging out in the nsx forums or regretting selling his old car! :P

Terrh, if your childhood lusted cars are still in the $100K range you are either still very young or you have much more expensive tastes than me!

Neal, we all make decisions based on personal situations. I have a few projects on the go that will need my money. Don't make me regret the GTR decision!

don't open up the 1.3L can of worms john!!!

basically as i understand it, that the rotary has 2 650cc housings, and in each housing there are 3 chambers, so in 1 revolution, 1.3L of volume has been displaced.

In a pistion engine it takes 4 strokes for this to be achieved.

so what is it? 1.3L or 2.6L?

the best way i've seen it explained is the displacement is 1.3L but the capacity of the engine is 2.6L, which is why you'll find most of them racing in the 2600cc classes of racing.

Thing is you really can't compare apples to oranges, and thats what most rotary guys seem to forget. You can't compare a 2 stroke motor to a 4 stroke motor on basis of power. It's like comparing a jet turbine to a wipper snipper motor.

Unless you add the correction factor for capacity, your power numbers don't really compare to a piston motor.

you missed my point, which is that hp/l doesn't matter. :P Torque per liter does, unfortunately aside from forced induction that number hasn't improved significantly since the 1930's.

I've had hondas... as I mentioned earlier I currently have a turbo del sol.

I test drove an S2k and /hated/ it. (for a street car) I spent a few weeks with an NSX once and it just didn't grow on me.
I also spent a pretty limited amount of time behind the wheel of an FD (despite owning 3 of them, I've never had one on the road for very long... ) and I can't get them out of my thoughts.

My friend's NSX also was a rather troublesome and finicky beast... I think he went through a transmission, a clutch and many many rear tires.

I am pretty young (23) but the only cars I've lusted after as a child that I still haven't gotten my hands on are expensive - a Lamborghini Countach, a Ferrari F-40 and a Porsche 959. All the rest that I liked I have allready owned or currently do. The latest purchase from that list was the GTR.
          1992 GTR - 2.7L, GT2871R's, forged bottom end, big valves, 270* cams, R34 getrag
          2000 Honda Insight - 70+mpg daily driver
          2003 Sierra 2500HD Diesel - Tow vehicle

I dont know... several Dyno's seem to disagree with those numbers lol... didn't Mazda have to offer refunds or cash back because of the inflated numbers?

                Jesus John,

Ok you traded your GTR in for an NSX. Some would call that high treason but you had your reasons and it was a good exhange for you. Then you get offered the first '09 GTR in Canada slot and you have to give it up for a baby. OK fair enough, I'm not a Dad but I'm sure thats was a good decision. Now someone wants to trade you one of the finest sports cars ever made for your torqueless wonder?!

Sorry JZ your credibility is seriously in question. What the hell is wrong with you? I would be upgrading quicktime right now. 996TT>>>>NSX any day.

                You have been called out!

Wow I just don't know what to say... Your luck is incredible.

I think you should take it.

                    Modded '92 NSX = $40K max
                    996TT = $65K minimum

^well, you do have one sexy nsx. so it might be a legit deal. honestly i would do the trade then sell it. that way you can 1) go buy another nsx and put more money into it or 2) put that money towards the new gtr.

If I do it, it wouldn't be to keep the 996, it'd be to get top value for my mods and money spent, which would then be traded in for the GTR.

                        Lemme think.

Hard to let her go...she's almost completed!

If it's a good deal.. I'd say go for the trade-in --> GTR.

I expect nothing less for the owner of GTRCanada!

I do. Long term plan calls for a lift to be installed in my garage and then a BCNR33.

So the way I see it, I can afford one.

If I sell my truck, my Z32, my formula cars, my tools, one of everything I have multiples of on my body (eye, leg, arm, kidney, lung, ear, etc), and buy into VISA's IPO.
