If one had the money in the near future. Would it be possible to:

Import an R35 from Japan for road use? With money and lawyers it is possible to get an R34, would it be the same for an R35?

I ask because there is a limited amount of GTR's comming to Canada and ispecially with the special editions comming in the next few years I'd have to guess that North America wont be getting much of the cake.

I don't know the laws in Canada, but I doubt it would work, as the cars are technically made by an American manufacturer, therefore they would still be imported. Why not just wait and save yourself the expense, hassle, and Nazi 112mph speed governor? Nissan has confirmed that the GT-R will be mechanically identical regardless of market, so it seems like alot of trouble when you could just pre-order from your local dealer...

The loop hole they are using is the Kit car program.

Basically they have the car dismantled, broght in pieces, showing seperate importation slips, and reassemble it as a "kit car" or "grey market vehicle." Until the odd R34 slipped through, it was still allowed as a dealer here in TO was using that ruling to bring in New Defenders from the UK. This hole has been sealed shut!

As far as I can see a kit car ruling is now that the vehicle has to be produced using a certain amount of USDM equipment. Not sure. But yeah Grand Touring can no longer bring in their 2005 Land Rover Defenders that they were selling here because the loop hole was closed, and very quickly once skylines started showing up.

theyre speed is limited by GPS and can only hit the 250kmh limiter if on a registered race track, where as the ones here in NA are limited to 250kph everywhere
