If Nissan says it isn't a Skyline, then I would have to say it isn't a Skyline. It's not "not considered a Skyline" because the collective group of Skyline owners got together and decided if we would grace it with that name. It's a GT-R because the creators dubbed it thee. It could have a more modern day version of the RB drivetrain and represent it in any and every way, and if they called it anything but a Skyline... Well then it isn't a Skyline.
I name my dog Fred, but you argue with me that his name is really Frank. What's his name? It's fuxking Fred. End of story.
im a nissan lover but the new GTR is not a skyline nor a continuation of it...a skyline is an rb powered car to me that is....the V engines are in the fairlady g35 category n whatever else....new gtr 350z 370z g35 g37 they all are in the same bucket
This skyline elitism is a little extreme, the R35 is a natural progression of cars, its pretty tough to compare a stock r32 to a stock r35. Theres many years of technology seperating them. If the GTR didnt have all the electronics and was as simple as the r32 people would bash it for being behind the times. I think its a great car and filled a perfect niche in the market. But going as far to say it doesnt live up to the skyline name? come on. The skyline isnt the holy grail, and who is in the position to decide that anyways. Look at the corvette, camaro, m3, m5, all have matured and still continue to be great cars. thats my 2 cents, make of it what you will.
My take is that 35 is dope ass car and proud its apart of the nissan family but should not have the gtr name. It does not match the rawness and ferociousness of the rb's and its comes with lhd option. Skyline is only ment to be rhd end of story.

yeah, at this point the r32 and 33s are enthusiast cars. they have been around and already made a name for them selves. these new gtrs are brand new $80,000 machines that are just insane (probally as insane as a r32 in '89). in time they may make a name for themselves too...
What about us lowly gtst owners we don't wanna be left out of the performance unfortunatly I'm only 18 and had to work 65 hrs a week to affor mine lol too bad daddy isn't rich and generous with cash... Irrelevent I know sorry just had to stick up for the proud gts owners
very nicely done, i agree with you about them cutting out the skyline name. this car imho isnt a skyline, doesnt even really fit the gtr line. this isnt a drivers car. its a giant lhd computer.
edit: without an RB. there ya have it.
I look back at this and I was a big ****. Sorry to all owners, I have absolutely no right to disrespect your cars and passions.
