I'm hopefully oging back this Sunday - so I hope to break into the 9's on pump as Switzer is tweaking my tune. Hopefully they will get it back in time...

Then I have to put a cage in it and I will try my race fuel settings...I will post the videos!

I wouldn't go quite that far, there are quite a few on here (including me) who will NEVER be able to afford an R35 and are maybe a little pissy about that. Then there are the guys who think all the electronic aids and the flappy paddle shifting is too far removed from what the history of the R3x cars have been up till now (including me).

But screw all that when you can drive to the track in comfort and lay the smackdown on pure drag cars that are less than comfortable and weigh 700lbs less to boot. Then turn on the A/C and drive back home again while those shmucks are still loading their "racecar" on the trailer.

I too love telling those guys that it's an inline 6 that's about the same displacement as their wife's minivan......

          Jon.
Thanks Jon, I think your comments are very fair actually and as I stated somewhere else on these forums, I also like manual and have one in my daily driver. The DCT simply makes life easier on higher powered cars - which it seems - you are no stranger to - as you are running a 10.67 at 134 MPH - VERY nice!

All while shifting a manual transmission car - which I must say is impressive in and of itself!

It's too bad we aren't in the same Province as I would love to meet up with you and your car.
We would make quite a team at the track!

Here's a few more videos from Sunday...two are on medium boost as I got to talking and showed people how I change my boost using the stock interface in the car. With no slips that day it took 3 runs before I found out...still good runs with a final full pump gas boost run against a SC C5 Z06 Vette.

Again, I was showing some people how to change my boost within the stock display of the car and left it on my second highest pump gas boost setting. As there...

          Enjoy!

Although my original post sounded a bit "angry" it certainly wasn't against the R35. My personal opinion is that using a car that had such an incredible amount of engineering put into it to allow it to perform the way it does and have it run in a straight line just makes no sense.
I LOVE the R35 but seeing it go down a 1/4 wouldn't be very exciting. Seeing it haul ass around Mosport... Sexual.
Regardless I still appreciate and respect the money spent by vtkknight to get that car to produce those numbers.

Thanks bobbo - I'm not too skittish about people's comments - I think you have very valid points. I have chosen to go the straight line path - and although I'm sure I would love road course - I've always been attacted to top speed.

I have spent a pretty penny on the car - sponsored by Switzer or not - so it is a little crazy to put yourself into this much debt.

But you only live once as they say - and it's worth it for me.

              Cheers!

If you were looking at seeing how fast you can go over a 1/4 mile you could easily buy/build a much faster car for the money you have invested in the GTR. That being said it won't be comparible comfort wise.
My father was a pretty serious drag racer years ago. He was in HotRod magazine as "significant contributer to the sport in Canada" and was "the fastest man in the Maritime Provinces" at the time. So i love the sport and have been down the 1/4 and the 1/8numerous times with great enjoyment. It just has NOTHING on diving into a corner from 200 km/h and passing another car on a road course IMO.
Again I want to mention that I have great appreciation for the engineering that has gone into your car plus the work that Switzer has done with it. Also the fact that you're DRIVING it unlike Porsche and M car owners who often seem to think "driving" means going to StarBucks.
My hat is off to you but take that machine to Mosport and really drive it!

VERY cool about your Father's drag-racing heritage! You are not the first to strongly suggest road course to me...lol

You are also correct about being able to do even faster times with a much less expensive car - a Mustang or even a Civic for example.
It's what you stated earlier - I wanted a car that was known as a supercar to start, is extremely driveable on and off the track, something unique that I have pride in due to its heritage, AND be able to drive low 9 second passes at 150+ MPH at the track (and 215 MPH+ traps in the mile).

                  This is what I chose.

As to the "garage queens" that put tonnes of money into their cars (both before and after they mod it) and don't race them - that's just not me.
If I won the lottery tomorrow, I would mod a million dollar car just to go faster. What's the point otherwise?

                  Cheers!

Any intentions of lightening the car? Those seats probably weigh 60lbs each! Based on your HP #'s it's the biggest thing from getting your ETs down. If memory serves every 100 (or so) lbs. is a .010?

The seats are actually 80 lbs each to my understanding...You are correct of course, but as I said earlier - I run what I brung (and what I drive on the street). I know I could pick up some time with weight (front and back seats, spoiler etc.) and definitely with 18" rims and drag radials - but for now - I want to see what I can do as I drive the car today...
