That's because Microsoft wanted around USD 10,000 for them to certify drivers that were included. Hence people always got the "User Account Control" notifications... A lot of people said f it and didn't bother getting Microsoft to certify them, they didn't not release drivers.shhhhhhhhhhhh it's a secret!

10k is not a lot of money to have your drivers signed by Microsoft. If a company cannot afford this cost then they should not be making hardware or software for that matter. Microsoft has to cover their butts, crappy drivers can wreak havoc on a system.Originally posted by stucknot View PostThat's because Microsoft wanted around USD 10,000 for them to certify drivers that were included. It might have been 100K US, don't quote me. I just remembed reading it somewhere. But take Logitech for example. They have a LOT of drivers, and to get them all signed by Mircrosoft would put a big dent in net income. (Keeping in mind that they also have to keep signing driver updates and revisions.)Originally posted by Insta_AxE_Toast View Post10k is not a lot of money to have your drivers signed by Microsoft. Tiger direct is junk..
I guess the only upside is that its local to your guys isnt it?
NCIX is cheaper.. and better shipping (For those not local)
Good sales most every wednesday..
and for me well they are a 5 minute drive to the store..
and Employee discount..
but Tiger direct.. has shipping issues..
Hard to return stuff..
as for the Vista Driver issue..
I never had one.. i been using Vista Ultimate on my Main PC, my Media PC, my Laptop, and my spare ..
never had an issue.. it has better out of the box driver support for most things..
just rare hardware can be an issue.. but since i dont use anything like that im good..
All i do is watch Movies, Surf, listen to Tunes..________________

I checked and it does indeed cost UP TO 10k to get your driver signed. However Vista 64 is the only version that requires all drivers to be signed. Every other version does not require the drivers to be signed. So a lot of companies were just lazy.Originally posted by stucknot View PostIt might have been 100K US, don't quote me. And as for people complaining about the UAC notifications. This is not Microsofts fault. These companies wrote their software requiring Admin access which the majority of programs should not require.

Ready Driver Plus ...... My best friend since installing Vista Ultimate 64.
I run this so that I do not have to "F8" every time I boot and turn off Driver Enforcement so that I can run:
- Peer Guardian
- PowerISO
In regards to Windows 7, it seems as though even Microsoft is even a little gunshy still and is not putting all their eggs in one basket again, like they did with Vista. The last notice that I got from the Microsoft Partner Program with my last software shipment was:
" Last year after carefull consultation with customers and the partner community, Microsoft decided to stop selling Windows XP effective June 30, 2008. Support will continue until 2014...."
This makes me quite happy, because although XP has completely dissapeared from the Retail marketplace, it is still alive and well in the OEM channels and readilly available.
In Vista's defence (I can't believe I am posting this...lol)......apres' SP1, Vista is DECENT, although it takes an Overclocked Q6600 @ 3.0Ghz x 4, 4 GB of RAM and 4 x 74GB 10k Raptors in RAID 5 to run it smoothly....lol
Hopefully I will get a copy of the latest build of "7" soon so that I can try it.

Hey...you used to buy from me when K-dawg was not around...Originally posted by dah_hunter View PostI figured you would..
anyone with a good system buy from NCIX..
It was a happy day when my buddy got a Job at the Head office..
no longer do him or i have to deal with the crappy customer service..
Nice Setup BTW..
lol
I worked there for a while and needless to say I have a nice computer. I used to have Watercooling and a retarded overclock, but I went back to air because I needed it SILENT. Now you can barely hear my machine.
I may have accidentally given myself a Premier Partner account. Prices are pretty good on most everything.
I will get W-7 when it is more tested. I think it looks more promising than Vista though...Fraser Valley Imports
