  • Nissan Pulsar Gti-R

Good for a first car? Looking to buy one in a couple years (when I'm 20)...full-time 4WD. Must be a joy in winter with snow tires...only thing is that it needs constant oil sprays and a wash before parking it (Ontario = Motherload of road salt).

for your first car get a 240sx it will teach you responsibility of your actions and parts are very easy to find. Dont jump into a car that has that much power yet build yourself up to it otherwise you wont know how to control it when the time comes. trust me on this

Lately I've been researching these cars hard. There is a canadagtir.com site that's not bad but look to the UK boards through google, there tons of info on them, one has a buyer guide about what to look out for.

Come spring i'll be selling my Tacoma and looking for one as a daily driver. 230hp AWD pocket rocket, aka a Baby GTR

i have friends who have had/have gti-rs. i like them, you cant go wrong with an sr20det in a little (sacriledge i know - vw golf-esque) exterior. all he did was up the boost a bit and just beat on it with 4wd burnouts off lights. if i had room and could get over the styling i would buy one for sure. not that it isnt an attractive car, just a bit too busy for my liking. good luck, and for the price, i say do it.

If not that, then I guess it's the S13. I don't like the styling of the 240SX fastback.

The GTi-R would be great as a first car, just need to give respect to it.

get a gti-r. it is the next car on my list to have. actually it was my last, but I got a killer deal on an rx7, so I put the gti-r off for a while. I test drove a few and if you get one in stock form you will be absolutly fine. it has power, but not crazy power. I would put it close to or a bit less than a gts-t which was my first car.

if you want one, i say go for it... they seem like super fun cars and I want one for next winter to bust around in.

                    he's turning 20, not 16.

a gti-r will be fine. it's not super powerful.. you guys are making it sound like it's a GTR.

240's are horrible , why would he ant to buy one?
i mean sure thier good platforms , but its not really worth the money IMO.

I'm 18 right now, but 240s really aren't my cup of tea...and they'd be pretty much worthless in winter (I don't think I can afford another car). This is also why I'm holding off on a GTR, as they are money pits and I'd need a place to store it away for the winter, since it's quintessentially just a RWD.

cant got wrong with the GTi-R. Sr20 is a good engine and the turbo that comes on it is alittle bigger then the same turbo that comes on the s13s from japland.

Only 2 flaws the gti-r has is understeer with stock susp and the stock intercooler is ****
