  • My FD

Here is a few pictures of my FD. For those who don't know, I owned a super mint R33 GTR Vspec and it got stolen about a month ago. And the crappy Japanese car insurance didn't cover theft. So I'm out 2.5 milion yen. (I still have some hope I will get her back thought!) Anyways, I obviously could afford to buy another GTR like I had so I went with for an FD. It's a car I always liked and promised I would own eventually. I like it a lot so far! That car is completly stock except for the HKS Super dragger exhaust, which I don't like and will change eventually!

I might do that! Nothing wrong with it, but I think it's a bit overkill for a bone stock car. Makes her sound like crap at low RPM!

lol, I have a stock catback... and I'm going single so it needs to go.

you should look into the racingbeat catback. huge raves on that thing for sound/performance and still daily driveable.

Jocelyn, I really feel for you, I didn't know you didn't get any money from the insurance company, that really sucks!
Well, hopefully you will find something even nicer one day!

The FD looks good, they have a lot of potential. We are a dealer for RE Amenomiya, Auto Exe, and Mazda Speed, so you need any cheap parts let me know!

Also, I noticed your new car is from my neck of the woods, Nagoya

Thanks for the comments Daryl! It was a pretty long day of driving when I had to pick her up! I drove the Escudo all the way there And then drove the FD back. That's almost 800km of driving! And a nice way to test a car!
As for parts, we'll keep in touch. I'd like the RE Amemiya cf door handle/key hole covers and an aluminum AST. If you can get me a good price on OEM parts that would be nice too! Otherwise I'll just go to the dealer and get some quotes!

I post more pictures once she's all cleaned up!

Wow dude, that's really tough, sorry to hear . I hate thieves. I can't believe they don't insure theft in Japan. Your car was one of the nicest R33s I've seen, I hope you find it!

RX-7 looks nice though, good find.

Theft IS insured in Japan, just not in this case (I don't know the details, you must as GTR-Guy).
My GT-R is insured for theft (after reading GTR-Guy's stolen thread I ran and double-checked my insurance papers).

There was a few things I didn't know when I bought the insurance for the GTR! First it is hard to get what they call here body insurance for sports cars in Japan. The reputation of these cars and their owners made it like that. That means if I drive the GTR like an idiot and crash it into a guardrail on a mountain road for example, the insurance company won't pay for the repairs.

I thought to myself, that's not a big deal, I don't drive like a maniac and I have no plans on crashing my car.

I did have the opportunity to get that extra coverage, but at the time I thought I'd be paying a lot more for something I didn't think I would ever need! But here is the shitty part: That optional body insurance is was also inclusive of theft insurance. That I did not know! Mabe my wife forgot to mention this little detail to me! As extra shittyness, if I did have the theft insurance all they would have paid me is 900000 Yen which is about 35% of what I had paid for the car. Regardless of the situation I'm still a loser!:-(
Anyways, If I would have known, of course I would have taken the body insurance that included theft, in my mind I though theft insurance was included even in the most basic insurance policy like in Canada.

We'll see what happens, I still wish and hope I get the GTR back, if not, I can just learn something from this experience. I'm glad in a way that my bad luck gave Daryl and hopefully other GTRCers the initiative to go and get proper insurance and car security for their pride and joy! That's my positive take on this situation!

Jocelyn, that's absolutely terrible news that your car got stolen! And even worse that you won't be seeing any compensation for it. The nuances of insurance policies can be tricky even in english, let alone in a foreign language, so I'm sorry to hear about your situation. In any event, the FD looks fantastic, and there's definitely lots of potential in her. Best of luck with everything, and I hope they find your GTR as well!

Your situation has definitely opened my eyes dude. Lots of people go around on the "what are the odds that something like that will happen?" mentality, until it actually happens. I'm going to take measures to beef up my security.

Best of luck on the FD man, keep us posted with future upgrades !
