you can have a built bottom end on a civic for around 1500 dollars if you have hook ups at a machine shop.

im not a crazy fan of the EJ's or EG's although the EJ's are growing on me i really loved the EF CRX's. wish i never parted mine out and sold it

everyone should appreciate a nice clean honda. airplane hondas on the otherhand... not so much.

One of my buddies has an EF hatch with full '98 spec ITR powertrain, ITR brakes and ITR underpinnings. He destroys me on the autocross course, I beat him in a straight line. It's pretty fast for the fact that the motor is stock except for an intake. He runs RT-615's and he has to feather the throttle mid way through 4th gear... Pulls to 10k on a regular basis with stock valvetrain. Try doing that with a skyline... I have a new respect for Hondas after seeing this thing go.

I think that's a bit off.

600 whp gt-r: 2860's, pistons, studs, bolts, injectors, poncams.

How about catback, downpipe, dump pipes, test pipe, fuel system, ecu, clutch, diffs, transmission upgrade, etc, etc, etc.

You're missing a lot of the small stuff. My engine assembled ran me just over 6100 dollars. That's not including all the other turbo stuff. And even then you'd be pushing 2860R's to the max to make 600 WHP.

600 whp B series: fully machined block, p & p head, then at least 6k on internals, gt35, wastegate, intercooler.

You can buy a benson sleeved and built shortblock for just over 3000 dollars. Less if you don't sleeve it. Don't need to port/polish the head, don't need to spend 1300 bucks on a 35R, don't need lots of the expensive drivetrain bits a GTR requires.

Not to mention how much you would need to spend on the civic to get it to hook up at all, but a 26 drivetrain can easily handle 600.

Coilovers, full race traction bar, maybe some LCA's if you're feeling adventerous. Done. That's what mid 9 second SFWD cars are running, you don't need ANYTHING exotic. And who said a GTR drivetrain can easily handle 600? Ever see how many people have shredded third gear making less than 600? Or grenaded their front diff? These aren't MKIV Supras, the transmissions are far from bullet proof.

I could be way off here but when i was pricing out a build on my dc (so glad i just bought a skyline) it came out to a lot more than i have seen gt-r builds cost.

No offense man, but you really are way off if you think it's more expensive to build a Honda than a GTR. Dollar per horsepower I'd say the GTR is one of the most expensive cars to build up for big power.

Exactly. I've seen REALLY nice built EG hatches, but most I've seen are some ricer piece of crap. Even people's DD's look better than those.

lol....ever price a B series straight cut dogbox compared to one for an RB26?
they're like $10,000 less, and can take more WHP.
And my tuner is running 640 WHP in his H series integra...has done many passes in the 10's.
B series are similar, but agree'd that it won't take the punishment for long.
