When I first read the title I thought it was a question of actually getting in and out of a skyline....I usually hold onto the kick plate, hold my body over my Bride, then clunk my ass in there...getting out is much harder.

My dad told me he would disown me if i bought a domestic car. So I bought a R32 GTS-T....he was less than amused. Then I sold that and bought my GTR, and its been in the garage for 6months., he's even less impressed.

        funny guy

I actually thought of that right after i made the title and submitted the thread.

The title could be taken two ways

My dad didn't car what car I got just as long as I don't get attached to it

My family owned a dodge caravan and that thing was a nightmare. 3 new trannies in a year and we just did city driving. Parents starting buying hondas and what not and most of the problems were fixed. Also the domestic build quality went down to much compared to imports.

              youtube lol.
started with 240's and 200sx, then carried on into 300zx and skylines, GTO and many other cars i think i will never own.

before i was the biggest anti rice hick out there, with my dad.

my dad owning almost every plymouth muscle car back in the day and his current 68cuda with a 588 made me love muscle cars, but i wanted something different then i was being used to for 17 years so i got me hondas and nissans lol, cant say he is that impressed.

he always beaks me when im putting something in my cars to go faster. One day though i will own a musle car, hopefull a 89-92 foxbody GT cobra black with cobra rims and supacharge or turbo.

I never really paid attention to jap cars when I was young(er). I saw skylines as something japan only etcetc. FnF tickled my interests, but didn't really have me sold in the beginning.

but back in 2004(?) mcfly brought his gtr over to take my brother for a spin and I went with, knowing little to nothing about them. Sparked the fire I guess.

Got on the intrawebs and started doing my research. Brother got a Silvia a few years after. I became free labor for him, and a few years after that I've got my own now.

Grew up in domestics. 2 Lincolns, 1 Mercury, 1 Buick, and 2 Pontiacs. Learned first hand never to buy a domestic. However, I will admit that I do enjoy driving the Trans-Am, even if I look terribly out of place in it. Don't currently own any Asian cars, still 8 American ones and a couple Munichers. Yeah, we can't exactly get rid of the American ones.

I liked going for a ride in a bigblock Transam (felt like it had around 500hp). One of my favourites. RB26 powered GTR racecar has similar feeling at peak hp, but lacks the bottomend of a bigblock V8.

The Bathurst history got me into Skylines.

Was my first car. It broke on me/left me stranded almost every time I drove it. Eventually I had enough and got rid of it, next car I found was my FC which happened to be the best car I ever had.

for what it's worth, what got me back into american cars was GM and the LS1. I like most everything now but I doubt I'll have another fiero.

My family always had German or Japanese cars. First family car was a 1962 Mercedes 190D, and then a streak of Jap cars in our household, starting with Mazda RX3, Datsun 510, Suzuki Swift, Toyota Sprinter, and Mitsubishi Pajeros.......the fascination continues with Tacomas, Skylines, and Evo Pajeros...

I've always loved the american muscle car rumble but hated the slush bucket handling, poor fuel economy, ugly styling (interior and exterior) and inability to make power without displacement.

I had a 320hp civic for a while... and loved that a 1.5L (yes, bone stock D15) could out run most domestics, definately out handle them and if I kept it out of boost it would run for a week on a 37$ tank. plus that little bucket could take a beating, be ridden hard, put away wet and love it

my love for skylines came from just car love in general... and then I saw some videos of glowing engine blocks, molten turbos, F1-esque sound, 1000hp 2.6L's AND they came in 4 door!

so, with my sedan fetish, a skyline just made sense the wife hates the car for all the time, money and headaches it's been a part of (I haven't driven my car in almost 3 years but somehow managed to dump about 12k into), but it's still my baby... and it's been around longer than her

The sig was from the Word game. I thought it was facking hilarious but once it was taken out of the thread, it wasn't so funny. hahaha.
It just doesn't make sense anymore.

kind of ironic that a rotary turned out to be the most reliable car you've ever had.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... forced induction is what killed the rotary. I bet the FD would still be around if they went with a N/A 3 rotor instead of a twin turbo 2 rotor.

I didn't say most reliable - just best.

I had some teething issues with it (was a turbo car) but considering what all I put it through I can't blame it for much. It was good to me and only stranded me once, due to something of my own doing.

Most reliable cars I've had have ironically tended to be DSM's. The GTR has been pretty good too, but when something does fail on it, it tends to fail HARD.
