I waited forever to get rid of my N. Because I'm lazy. But anyway, I decided to do it in my mom's 5 speed 2003 civic. I forgot how much I can't stand that car, and cars like it. Why? BLIND SPOTS. Holy mother of god, what is with new 2 door cars and blind spots? Backing that thing up is only possible using the mirrors. Doing the whole "spin at the waist and put your arm on the other seat's headrest" is useless, because you can't see ****.
When did cars lose great visibility? I can't think of any modern car now that doesn't have a giant clusterfuck of crap in the way when you try to see what's behind you with your eyes instead of your mirrors. It's like everyone saw lambo's and ferrari's and their terrible rear visibility and decided that it was cool, and should be implemented into cars that you need to back up on a regular basis
I passed the test btw, because I'm super badass.

Yup, I did it in the Celica. I got lots of crazy looks as I was waiting in the parking lot for the examinerOriginally posted by Manny-u*nit View Postgood job haha i did mine 2 years ago first try too.. but they made me renew my licence so i ended up spending like 175$

I kinda lucked out though because the guy was an ex-mechanic and was interested in the car. Also he was very down to earth about the rules, and didn't mind with most of the dumb shifting stuff. I did get two marks off with my roadside stop though because I had a brain fart as to what the proper proceedure was. Also he marked me for slowing on the freeway... the limit was 80 because of ongoing construction in the area and there was traffic merging in front of me so I dropped to 75
All in all, he didn't mind that I hit the boost on the on-ramps, and didn't mind me up-shifting in the intersections as long as I could drive stick comfortably (duh
)
I'm just happy I don't have to worry about it anymore

Congrats man. Where did you take it? I had some silly stuff happen in my G test last month because in Burlington there is a lot construction going on on the QEW...and funny you mention the emergency roadside stop, thats the only place I lost marks! hahaVictory is on the horizon..

Sure if you like giving yourself disadvantages in life. I'd take a LHD as many "road test facilitators" are biased and very stubborn in their ways of life.
Not to say all are anti-RHD, but most frown upon it from personal experience.
Also it's a lot easier to fail in cases like a blinded left turn as you may "fail to turn left when safe" as RHD is more dangerous than LHD for our roads, let's not kid ourselves that it isn't.

I passed my G last year in my HCR. Probably the same Test Center. Bunting Road perhaps.Originally posted by CelicaKidd_205 View PostYup, I did it in the Celica.
I got the older man from I think he said Scotland. He was very familiar with Right Hand Drives but had never Tested someone in 1. I passed and he didnt care(pos or neg) one bit about my RHD. He did give me a compliment on my shifting.

Yeah, Bunting Rd in St. Catharines is where I did mine. Most of the testers there are reasonable, though there's an older lady who is a total b****.Originally posted by beacher1B0 View PostI passed my G last year in my HCR. Probably the same Test Center. Bunting Road perhaps.

And pardon the ignorance but I've never heard of an HCR...

Rented a car when it came time for mine 4 or 5 years ago and passed with flying colors minus the fact that she almost failed me for speeding. Just imagine what would have happened if I drove my car. Funny thing is that's what I was trying to avoid.Miss driving sooooo bad! Need to get a car on the road ASAP!

I did my test in the POS **** car of my instructor, a '90 something 2 door eagle summit.
Had my fathers neighbor has an instructor, which was fun. But when I went for my test, and was
expecting the father of a friend, who is also a client at my father garage, I got a little surprise.
Yep he was sick or something, so had a replacement, got the absolute worst tester around.
The guy didn't have ANY facial expression and didn't seam to have much sense of direction either.
Until I got cut off and I do mean cut off, the dumb ass literally made a complete stop at the stop
sign, and having no car in sight in front of me or behind me, he decided he would just cut me off,
has if I had a stop when clearly I didn't, I even felt the tester press the brake pedal on his side.
I can tell you he didn't appreciate it too much got the license plate number, and heard a couple
curse word coming from his side. Then I just turned and said to him he didn't have to press the
brake, I still had at least a feet of room. He just looked at me made made a chuckle. I got 1
mistake on my test, did a hand over hand.
That was already over 11 years ago, damn time goes fast. My instructor is still teaching, saw
him while he was with a student a little while back when visiting family.14 VW Jetta TDI
